Datchet used the swan as the'logo'when they were part of the county of Buckinghamshire. The boundry was moved and Datchet assimilated into Berkshire. It was decided to keep the link with the past.

Len and Barbara live in Chirk. I knew them well in Kirtlington, way back when. Their son Bob is part of a Wiltshire folk-band called "Tinkers Bag". My cousin and her husband are members of the band.

I'm sure that the swan logo in a morris side would belong to Buckinghamshire....

Len & Barbara now live in Wales -they haven't lived in Kirtlington for at least 15 years. Last time I was home I heard they were doing ok - but not much.

You could get in touch with Kirtlington Morris or Isca Morris they have web sites with contact addresses or just do a search for Morris web sites they all have pictures you may find a match.

Interested to know what part of the country you found them? I can only assume if they have been thrown away that, the original owner no longer had a use for them.

Datchet Morris Men formed 1961. Style changed to dancing Border Morris in 1991. Previous kit, black and red baldricks, white shirt, black breeches, white socks. The club badge was a black swan on a blue background (Buckinghamshire Swan?)The hats did change a number of times, the last version was a Rush Boater, but we did have a black hat similar to a pork pie/trilby hat. We burnt them at a Kennet Morris Ale cause they took this piss out of us!!

I do seem to remember the background for the badge may of been white at some time.
One of the men still dances with the side since it's formation!!

Useful list but when looking at old photos bear in mind that teams change kit e.g. Dr Turberville's now dance in whites but when I started them in 1982 we wore brown britches and green socks!

Roy Dommett has an encyclopedic knowledge of morris resulting from a lifetime of research. He lives in Church Crookham and I think his phone number is in the book. He might be able to cast some light, especially if it is a now defunct side.

Depends on the scanner. Mine will do slides, having a backlight in the lid for that purpose. Chances are somebody you know will have something similar.

I've had some pretty good results with shining a torch through the slide onto a white wall (or a sheet of paper stuck to the wall) and then photographing the image. Works adequately if you don't require razor clarity.

I don't recognise the kit fromt he description. However, many sides do keep quite detailed archives, and are grateful for photos, leaflets, articles and so on from the past, so it was a kind thought for you to ask here. Thanks.

Help please:-
I have found 6 35mm slides in a skip, they are of a morris side and I would like to send them to them for their archive.
They are dressed as follows:-
(looks like) short top hat with red ribbon & circular white badge.
white shirt, black trousers to the knee. Baldrick red & black with white badge that may have a swan, duck or simillar on it.
White hankies, red & black bell pads. White socks & black shoes.
Any ideas?
