I was in the "Wellington" of Freetown way Hull last night with a few of the "Six Bells" lot fom south bank for a bit of a sing and play.It went that well that it was decided that there will be a monthly session.

This will be on the third Monday of every month - 17th of December first one.

The "Welly" is a great little pub that has a fine selection of real ales, and judging by last night nice and quiet.

It was agreed that the session will be mixed, tunes, songs etc.and everyone is welcome.

Last night there was a more musos than singers , but everyone had a chance to contribute.

I am led to believe that this will not be "around the room" organised session, but maybe others can provide more info.

Any way, as they say, i believe this has all the makings of a great night out once a month, so come along and give it a try.

Wow....that sounds fantastic!!!!!

Count me in.....and my partner...(although he's new to folk so just picking up folky ways with guitar).

1 bodhran with occasional whistle when I know a tune, although, not always at the same time!!!

Are there any other sessions in Hull, as I find Beverley hard to get back from.

The Black Boy has a music session on the first Monday, again nearly all tunes but well-attended from both sides of the Humber.

The Wellington Inn is one of Hull's finest pubs with an incredible range of drinks (including 8 hand pulls, over 100 bottled lagers etc in a glass-sided walk-in cool room, and a fine range of spirits etc.

Excellent choice of venue Mick, The Wellington is a good pub, has live music every Thursday, booked acts, (folk, blues, jazz etc), is a good central location, and serves good bears, (currently voted best pub in hull by the real ale people).I will almost certainly be there, and I'll tell all the folkie people i know about it.

agreed, not many members of hull smerking club left, quite an exclusive clib. Bassic gordon stopped, El Ted stopped, Mick ossonflags stopped, mick been smerking about 60 years or something, then stopped.
