Looking to play this one and would really like the chords. Not necessarily the Shirley Collins version, but something. Thanks.

(D) Who wished for to go with young (C) Ramble Aw(D)ay.

No disrespect to Richard.

I used to play it so :

(Am) As I was a-(Cmaj)-walking to Birmingham (Gmaj) Street
(Am) In me new scarlet jaicket, so (Cmaj)gay and com (Gmaj)- plete ;
(Cmaj) The lasses they sighed as (Fmaj) passed me (Emaj) by
(Am) There goes the young man they call Gmaj) Ramble a (Am) way.

Cracking song, though.

I think I've heard that chord sequence to yet further words - as "Brimbledown Fair".

My late wife and I played the version we did absolutely to death, and I'm still doing it.

I too have heard 'Brimbledown Fair'.

The second verse in the version I once sang :

As I went a-walking to Tavistock Fair
I spied pretty Nancy a-coiling her hair.
I slipped her the wink and she rolled a dark eye -
Thinks I to meself, I'll be there by-and-by.

I am about to cover this, In my version to keep it close to my own locale here in Sussex.

I have been playing it like this.

(Am) As I went ( G) a-Walking (C) to Horsham Fayre (G)
(Am) I saw (G) Pretty Nancy (C) a-Curling her hair (G)
(Am) I tipped her a (C ) wink and she (G) rolled her dark eye (E)
(Am) I think to myself , I'll Be there (G) by and by (Am)

Old thread, but it still comes up as the first hit. I think this is pretty accurate to the Shirley Collins version:

Am)As I go (C) a-walking down (Am) Birmingham (G)Street
(Am)In my new (C) scarlet jacket all (Am) neat and (G) complete,
(Am)The girls (C) all say as (Am) they pass me (E) by,
"(Am)Is that the (C)young man (G) they call (am) Rambleaway?"

?
