Subject: Folklore: Jinglebrass From: GUEST,Raw Head & Bloody Bones Date: 04 Dec 07 - 12:21 PM ...and when all else fails, as it so very often does in this most Godless & tinsel-tat realm of Winterval, Winterfest (and other suchlike PC deprivations), let us be thankful for Jinglebrass, who have the purity of both Heart & Humanity to recognise the True Essence of the Season by offering us their wonderful music in the spirit it demands, thus warming the cockles of even the most curmudgeonly of hearts with the Generosity of their Exquisite Craft. Please note, this Gifted Ensemble is comprised of some of the Finest Folk Musicians our country has to offer, but here they eschew the dubious merits of celebrity to go Masked as Guisers, anonymous indeed to a richer sense of Ceremonial Humility, reaching back into the dark & resonant depths wherein Myth weaves with History to reveal an Ancient & Fragrant Realm wherein the Green Man (in his guise as Holly King) dances with his Ivy-clad consort in halls decked out with boughs of His most Sacred Timber. So good Ladies & Gentlemen of the Mudcat Forum, ye who hunger & thirst for Truth & Tradition at the dark heart of the turning year, point your cursed cursors at the link below and Let Nothing ye Dismay! Subject: RE: Folklore: Jinglebrass From: greg stephens Date: 04 Dec 07 - 12:27 PM Many thanks for that Raw Head, Bloody Bones and the good folk of Jinglebrass. I started a thread a while ago complaining that Sainsbury's was flooding the supermarket with Jingle Bells and stuff from the middle of November. Now, if they had been using these recordings I wqould have been delighted. The true spirit of Christmas is with us.Vey heartening. Congratulations!! |
