So there I was pinot-hunting in the Anderson Valley, and on the tasting room wall hung a strangely asymmetrtical guitar with fanned frets. I tried it -- WOW! What a gorgeous sound! Turns out it was made by a local (Boonville, CA) renaissance man who isn't a luthier at all, but a boat builder (I think).
