For those folkies near enough to Sheffield, there's a chance to see the well- known unaccompanied harmony group Notts Alliance, next Tuesday, 18th December at Kivvo Folk Club. These lads are regarded by many as being at the forefront of the a-capella outfits and have been compared favourably with CBS and other notables. Fine singing, tight harmonies and a wide range of material make them well worth a listen. Its also Kiveton's Xmas party night, with lots of festive cheer and food! Cheap bar, free grub, nice crowd of folks and a warm welcome to all await. There's a strong possibility that there'll be one or two traditional Carols aired, stuff that you can get your gob around with some gusto!
So, for a great night to welcome in the season of goodwill, get down to Kiveton next Tuesday. Kick off 8.30. Admission £4

Yes Sooz. Following tradition,Kiveton Park FC will be open for business on Xmas day evening. Like the Windmill Theatre 'We never close'. We've had a club night EVERY Tuesday for the last 37 years and will not fail in 2007. So for those who wish to get away from the grandkids, repeats of the Morecambe and Wise show and re-runs of The African Queen, there will be a club night at Kiveton.It will be a quiet(ish) affair 'cos a lot of regulars will have family committments that they need to address but nevertheless I expect to see one or two folks attending.
