Maybe the website has not been updated TwickFolk, I know that Bernard has been rushed off his feet in the last few Months what with touring, recording and all. In fact I've only caught up with once since we finished my album in August and we ususally get together at least every 2-3 weeks.

Next time you see him, Bugsy, remember me to him. Bernard and I were in the same class for years at secondary school in Bolton (he was big on Bert Jansch and Martin Carthy at the time though he may attempt to deny it!). A couple of years ago we went to Perth to visit my wife's family there and we took the opportunity to call on him and his lovely missus - our first reunion in 30 years. Though it was an all-too-brief encounter I could feel the years peeling away, all the way back to the time we used to get in trouble at school for singing Amen Corner songs at the tops of our voices in the corridors! He's a smashing feller and I'll try to crash into him again on his tour (what a shame none of his gigs are anywhere near Cornwall!)

Why don't you organise one for him then? It's ever so easily done...

There's plenty of free nights...early on in the tour when he's around Wales/Hampshire looks the best bet. Give Jacey Bedford a ring and I'm sure you can sort something out. If no suitable venue springs to mind try a house concert!...

Well get him down there and invite/persuade 20 odd people to come round to your place for a party to hear him sing....tell them it's a tenner's minimum donation with the lot going to the artist, you buy the food and some drink. Lo and behold you'll find you've got yourself a house concert! Simple as that....it's not exactly rocket salad! :-)

I had Bernard and his lovely wife over for a BBQ the other night and I told him I'd posted this thread on the Mudcat. He told me that he now has some extra gigs on the tour. I'll contact him in the next day or so and get the details posted here.

Bernard and Eleanor are staying at our house tomorrow night! They have a fair bit of travelling to do as they're coming here (Bude) from Wales and are then off to Southampton on Friday. I'll pass on any good wishes posted, public or private! :-)

Hear, hear! Bernard did an ecstatic, adoring encore last night. He was bloody brill, the perfect songwriter/entertainer. I talked to Bernard and Eleanor, and Eleanor gave me a CD to send to Our Frank to play on his Celtic Heartbeat show for Radio Wales - Frank doesn't know what he's missing!

For those who don't know, Bernard came from Lancashire and emigrated to Perth, Australia, 30 years ago. Incidentally, we all know who Jacey Bedford is - but who's Bugsy? (Only joking!)
