Subject: BS: THANK YOU SANTA!
From: JennieG
Date: 24 Dec 07 - 04:36 PM

Thank you Santa, I have just opened my present because it is now Christmas morning, what lovely goodies! I would send a PM to say thank you but I am still in the dark as to who you are.....? although there are obviously Scottish clues. My great-great grandparents migrated from Scotland to Oz in the 1840s so there is a Scots connection in my family.

I hadn't seen the movie and it has been on my list of 'must sees' for a while now. The book of photographs is beautiful and the CD looks most interesting, I shall play it soon. I have never had stickers with my name on before! And that pretty bag, you embroidered it yourself I presume? :-)

Many thanks for such lovely goodies and for being a wonderful Santa.

Cheeers

And Thank You Santa Limpit for the pressies - funny that the tables should be turned like that this year :o))

In Denmark the "Big Day" (or night) is today, 24th, so I took the liberty of opening my pressies tonight. Nice box of goodies, I love winegums! Have eaten about 1/3 of them already, too.. I'm saving the chocolates for later, I can't eat anymore tonight.

Milloup was allowed to eat one of the two large goodies, the other will be saved for later. He also helped unwrap the squeaky toy and has given it a few shakes. I took it into custody before he murdered it completely or I'd have had the neighbours in thinking *I* was murdering *him*.. ;-)

I also detect a motherly hand in some of the gifts; a CD with the East London Chorus singing Ein Deutsches Requiem - and I spotted Secsy in the picture, too! Plus a nice DVD with a cross stitch pattern creator - maybe I should try it on some of my wildlife photos..? And I got both chocolate coins and real legal tender - as in Danish coins, no less.

So, Ratty was right, after all. I hope you've given him a good home :-)

Best wishes, esteemed BOSS Santa,

Bente

PS Jennie, I take bribes............ Mwahahahaha.....

yep its an overcast Christmas morning here in Sydney and I'm still mostly in the dark too - but I'm guessing Artbrooks....

thanks you so much Santa - all the goodies are wonderful (and the postcards were great too)

I got a book that I had been chasing, a beautiful pair of ear-rings, a CD (is this your band? and which one are you?)

I absolutely love the tablecloth with the jalapenos all over it!! I have used it as a throw across the top of one of my lounges!

I have to admit when I saw the jalapeno peanut brittle I had my doubts !!(and how did you manage to get that past customs? hahaha) - but I've just gone for second helpings - mmmmmmmmmmmm yummy

thanks you again for being such a great & thoughtful santa

Thank you, Edmund Thomas, for the fine CD that I am listening to as I type. I also sampled the Rogers chocolates to attest for their quality, but elected to be a nice enough gut to leave a few to share with expected guests later.

Finally, a Santa I don't have to go hunting down in the UK, though that's always proved a good thing. Of course seeing friends at Getaway time every year possible has always worked as well. The best of holidays to all who dwell within your home!

And thanks, again.

Lucky me! I am listening to a fabulous CD by my Secret Santa, Dan Schatz!! Thank you, so much, Dan. I love autoharp and dulcimer AND your singing, as well as the lovely voices of Judy and Kathy. What beautiful autoharp playing, too! I had only heard Uncle Eef as done by Art Thieme. I really like your rendition of it, too. I like hearing different versions of some favourite songs.

I had forgotten I could have opened the one package when we decorated the tree, but we didn't even do that until this past Saturday, so it wasn't too long until this morning, when I opened it and found the delightful all "natural" bird who is now hanging out with some googly-eyed birds from my mom's old 1950-60s trees and one cloth cardinal from a few years back. Thanks for him. Did you make him? I love the use of nature's seed pods, etc. when making such crafts.

I did open the chocolates right away and, of course, they didn't last long!

Thank yew, thank yew! Dan = Great Secret Santa!

I just love the Maryland cook book (can't wait to try George Washington apple pie) , I will enjoy reading about the local culture scene and listen to the CD later when there is less going on here.

Thanks again and thanks to the elves too.

Hope you have a very merry holiday. I am off to make the trifle!

Thank you, Santa, for the beautiful scarf (which will become part of my gospel choir uniform posthaste), the evening bag (which I quite needed) and the wonderful book of poetry, which I fully intend to read after I prise it out of my husband's grasping fingers.

You have been a spectacular Santa! The happiest of boxing days to you (it's noon on Christmas Day here, but I think that means it's already boxing day in the land of Oz).

Yours,

Thank you Santa! Lovely presents from 'down under' with some assistance to Santa from Alison, I think?! I got an aboriginal artwork mat, some oven gloves, cookie cutters and Alison's Bodhran tutor cd, which I have played along with - though from the general groans and gripes from my family, not very well!
Thank you for all the thought you put into my gifts

Thank you Sandra in Sydney for my lovely gifts, I was very good and waited til Christmas Day to open my Parcel, we listened to the CD all day and it played whilst we ate Christmas dinner and my Guests loved it too.

I have looked up their gig guide on the net but I don't think I will make it to any of their gigs just yet.

The calendar will look great on my new desk at work as well. my Kittens were very interested in the cat you sent. It is out of their reach now.

Thanks again

You know, the Mudcat pressies are a lot like the Christmas trees of my childhood. Each year is the Best One Ever. My Guru, you are a better gift warpper than I'll ever be. How did you get the tape to meld so perfectly with the paper? My son ahd to loan me his folding knife to unwrap the package, and then again to open the gift wrap. And then I still didn't know who you were! down I explored, through all that beautiful chocolate (being carefully rationed), past the pudding (yum), past the cd's to the bookmark (my favorite kind; doesn't get ost in the book, not thick and bulky). Then back to the cd's. Wow, just what I wanted, and one that I've never heard. Aha, the second cd is you! It's wonderful, and is currently in the car cd player; it's wonderful. Thanks again, and I hope your Christmas was as much fun as mine. Mary/Hollowfox

I'm glad you liked the CD, Fran - the Wheezers are some of my favourite people, they make great music. There's only one thing I have against them & I've told them before & usually say it when I'm introducing them - they advise playing their CDs LOUDLY, I suggest folks value their ears & neighbours & play lower. I also tell everyone that that are the only group who can be heard over the coffee machine at JennyO's folk club!

On Christmas afternoon we unwrapped our presents - and there were two CDs united by a common name. Thank you, Chanteyranger, for the wonderful music! The In Harmony's Way CD is a real treat - an entire CD of some of the Bay area's best folkies having fund and making music together, with full choruses and great harmonies. It's absolutely impossible not to sing along. And the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers CD was a wonderful surprise - an orchestra of fiddles, playing some of my favorite tunes! Thank you, thank you Santa!

I'm glad you liked the pressies, Kat. The bird ornament is called a "Critter," and it's made by volunteers from the Brandywine Conservancy, a local art and nature conservation organization here in Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley. They spend all year collecting the natural materials from the conservancy lands and make thousands of these things and sell them as a fundraiser every Christmas. They are often, as you can tell, quite wacky.

I opened all the presents from my Santa, Kim C. All red and green wrappings, what fun. My first Mudcat Secret Santa year to get presents.

There was a lovely black and crystal bracelet, good for New Year's Eve, lemon soap (my favorite scent, as Santa knew) with a hand-knitted washcloth, a CD of Kim's ("Lowlands of Holland" by Kim and Paul Caudell) and an accompanying novel set in Tennesse during the Civil War, "The Black Flower" by Howard Bahr -- as one of the songs on the CD is based on another of his books, "The Year of the Jubilo".

So this pressie will give me much to do in the upcoming year!!! The CD also has "Lorena" and "Annie Laurie", two of my favorite songs. How did Santa know this???? Amazing.

See what happens when you rely on the spell-check? At least when you're working with a large group there's plenty of folks around to help share the expense. Try recording solo....

In any case, the CD was also a lot of FUN.

Well RangerSteve, thank you so much for being my Santa this year. Your parcel was really worth the wait for the postal service and I really do feel spoiled!

We've already had your tape on the player, we really enjoyed your music and I feel quite honoured to receive the last one. Surely this isn't the your last recording, there should be more!! The books and papers are quite fascinating and well worth reading when cosying up to the fire, I can't help wondering if they've inspired some folk songs.

As for the chocolates, they're delicious and won't be saved for a rainy day *grin* The lovely perfumed candle is going to be used for remembering lost people which is so very important to me. Thank you so much for your thoughtful gifts Steve, wishing you and yours health and happiness for the New Year,

Freda,

We've had a crazy Christmas season -- home for the day, but then away for a few weeks, so this is quite belated: thankyouthankyouthankyou for the sundry goodies!

Any particular story to the cd? Yours? Friends of yours?

Son Dan (age 12) had fun trying the Marmite (with the typical American reaction), and we've passed it on to the Aussie in my lab who's not a Vegemite purist, like some. ;-)

Happy New Year to you and yours!
