Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 07 Jan 08 - 12:28 PM I e mailed the shop and thanked them for letting you go and photograph it etc and told them about this thread on Mudact. Their response is below 'Your friends were a pleasure and thank you for spreading the word about our wonderful capes.' Now as for this fountain..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Micca Date: 07 Jan 08 - 11:17 AM and Cats could have given it a dacent burial in the Sacred soil of Cornwall(having first smashed it to smithereens), or donated it to the Witchcraft museum at Boscastle, as an example of torture? |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 07 Jan 08 - 09:50 AM Darn! I could have shipped the cape with the Fountain from Hell wrapped inside. ANother opportunity missed. M |

Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Micca Date: 06 Jan 08 - 12:31 PM Mary here - the saleslady says that she discussed size with you and recommended a Regular. The one we tried on had been made that week and was a Regular. Because they are cut so full, she said you go by length more than size. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: jacqui.c Date: 06 Jan 08 - 08:35 AM Mary organised the trip with the saleslady so will know what size was brought out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Micca Date: 06 Jan 08 - 08:10 AM Cats, I'll leave that to Jacqui and Sins when they get the chance to respond.I was just the photographer. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 06 Jan 08 - 05:18 AM The pics are on my computer!!! Yes it is stunning and yes I am going to buy it as soon as someone can tell me what size you tried on! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: TRUBRIT Date: 05 Jan 08 - 11:53 PM So where are the pictures????? |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 05 Jan 08 - 07:42 PM Cats - I of the ample bosom tried on the cape and there are pictures. It fit perfectly. Jacqui tried it on for length. The color is stunning - looks more red in the pictures than it is. You will be so pleased. It will actually fit you better than me because you are shorter. Really beautiful. And we not only behaved, we absolutely charmed the sales lasy who agreed to forewarn us of the sale and even do a private appointment with us. I also behaved at the Goodwill store but Jacqui and Micca did not. There are pictures to prove it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 05 Jan 08 - 03:52 PM Thanks, Jacqui. If it's OK for length will it go round me OK? Which size did you think is best? Long or regular? I don't suppose they are going to put it in the sale!! Glad you were all well behaved. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: jacqui.c Date: 05 Jan 08 - 01:51 PM We went to the shop this morning and tried on one of the capes. Photos will follow via email when Micca downloads his camera at Mary's house. The cape is beautiful and should be good for length. They are having a closing sale, mainly of accessories, at the end of January and have some wonderful scarves, which we may have to check out. We were actually very well behaved - we saved the bad behaviour for the Goodwill store a little later. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: MaineDog Date: 05 Jan 08 - 10:26 AM In the summer, everyone is from away. In the winter everyone goes away. Some of us live here in the spring or the fall. MD |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 05 Jan 08 - 09:47 AM I hope so. If it is here by then I'll wear it down. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Noreen Date: 04 Jan 08 - 05:29 PM Looking forward to seeing you in this in Sidmouth, Cats- will you have it in time for the reunion? I want one!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Charley Noble Date: 04 Jan 08 - 04:43 PM When Sins says: "Given the generosity of the store personnel, we will behave ourselves." I'd believe her, or start running! I thought I remembered that the color was "cranberry." Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 04 Jan 08 - 04:42 PM Not really, Sorch. We always behave - just very badly. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Sorcha Date: 04 Jan 08 - 03:22 PM But, they promised to behave! (Do we really think they are up to that? It's going to be verrrry difficult for them) |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Leadfingers Date: 04 Jan 08 - 03:12 PM I dont think Cats realised what sort of a can of worms she was openening when she styarted this thread I Wish I could be a fly on the wall when the Mainiacs turn up !! |

Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 08 - 03:01 PM If you ship via Micca, he can wear it through Heathrow's Customs. I am sure it will accelerate matters. Just explain you're coming back for a Leprechaun's Convention in the deepest forest... A |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 04 Jan 08 - 02:47 PM Thanks, Tami. That's makes a difference. So it's me an Jacqui and Micca???? |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: ranger1 Date: 04 Jan 08 - 02:29 PM It's not burgundy that she wants, it's cranberry. Big difference. However, I will not be attending, as I am fluish and don't wish to share my germs. Unless you really want them... |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 04 Jan 08 - 01:17 PM Not surprising, Charlie. Sad but true - the shop is closed! BUT they agreed to open at 10AM tomorrow (Saturday) for the picture taking to take place. They have the burgundy Victorian in stock in Cats' size. We will take the photos, cybermail them to Cats for approval. She can then purchase the cape and have it shipped. I recommend the shipping over Micca Express. Too many mishaps can occur (including the dreaded Alice) before it finally made its way to the UK. Given the generosity of the store personnel, we will behave ourselves. SINS |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Charley Noble Date: 02 Jan 08 - 11:09 PM The capes looked a little stressed when I walked by the shop in the Old Port today, as if they had been monitoring this thread. The cranberry one was trying to shimmy up its pole and appeared to be about to make a leap for the top shelf. I said not a word and continued on my way. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 02 Jan 08 - 03:11 PM heh heh And deprive the store keep of our company? I think not! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 02 Jan 08 - 03:00 PM Perhaps I should just take their advice on the size and colour and get the company to ship it! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: gnu Date: 02 Jan 08 - 01:37 PM Ah... I miscaboobulated that... he WAS given the okay to use the snowblower. Whew! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: SINSULL Date: 02 Jan 08 - 01:31 PM Cats - have you been reading this thread carefully? You are going to buy an expensive cape and trust this lot to send it to you during the worst winter in many years in the color Tami craves. Make sure you get a commitment that it will be delivered within one week of purchase or you may have a previously owned (read: USED) cape on your hands (or back). Of course, nothing can be done about the surprise premium that will no doubt be included. heh heh |

Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 02 Jan 08 - 01:25 PM The weather forecast here is for the possibility of up to one centimetre on the high moorland overnight. I'm classed as high moorland but the odds are it will be a snow free day again tomorrow. At least I will know that when the real cold does come I will be really warm in a cape from Maine. I worked there many years ago. I was a counselloer at Little Sebago and Sebago Wohelo summer camps. I met a really nice guy who was singing in a bar in the old part of town on one of my off evenings.. but that was in 1974! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Becca72 Date: 02 Jan 08 - 01:25 PM Ok...I thought for a second I was going to have to make a side trip to Scarborough on my way home this evening. :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Becca72 Date: 02 Jan 08 - 12:07 PM Was hhe given clearance by the heart dude to use the snowblower, Jacqui? Last I heard he was to be hands off of that and the shovel.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: gnu Date: 02 Jan 08 - 12:00 PM Still wild and wooly here with over 16" down since midnight. Supposed to ease to light snow in the next few hours. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Charley Noble Date: 02 Jan 08 - 09:50 AM Micca- If I could only find some Old Port Royal, that famous rum mentioned in DR. DOGBODY'S LEG that was said to be served at the Cheerful Tortoise in Portsmouth. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Micca Date: 02 Jan 08 - 08:46 AM Charlie, there are fewer nicer ways of spending a day then "checking out some Old Port" |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: jacqui.c Date: 02 Jan 08 - 08:31 AM Mary's going to check opening times for the store and we'll see if we can get there when she finishes work. Otherwise it may have to wait for the weekend, unless Tami and I can work out a time. The snow is piling nicely out there right now but Kendall's out with the snow blower, clearing the drive. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Charley Noble Date: 02 Jan 08 - 08:23 AM Not as bad as we were expecting where we are in Maine, just another 6 inches. But down in the Portland area they got about a foot more of snow and not much room to pile it. I'll be checking out the Old Port later in the day. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: Cats Date: 02 Jan 08 - 07:33 AM Warm sunshine here. Not a snowflake. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help - anyone live in Maine? From: gnu Date: 02 Jan 08 - 07:08 AM Just about into 4X4 status here now. The drifts are nasty and the whiteouts frequent. Not much moving but the snow. And it's picking up with the sun rising. Wind too. 80 to 90kph by noon. But, it should wane by mid-afternoon. Soooooo, how is the Cape Caper unfolding? |
