Electric Voices will be presenting the stage premiere of Martyn Wyndham-Read's new show Down The Lawson Track, which is based on the writings of the much-loved Australian poet Henry Lawson, at the Electric Theatre in Guildford on Saturday 19th January 2008 at 8pm.

Henry Lawson's writing told vividly, passionately and humorously of life in "The Great Outback" and his words have been set to music for this show by Martyn, who will be joined by musicians Iris Bishop and Gary Holder. The songs will be interspersed with readings of his poetry and stories of the Australian Bush, and the show will be narrated by "one of England's greatest cultural treasures", Shirley Collins, and actor Pip Barnes.

Admission: £11.00 in advance; £13.00 on the day
Tickets will be obtainable from the Electric Theatre box office (tel: 01483 444789), which reopens after the Christmas break on January 2nd.

Love to see the full list of poems, and find out if a recording is in the works.

Having just come back from the show in Guildford, I can heartily recommend it. If you get the chance to see it in Cheltenham, you really should do so!!!

Yes - I aim to do so! Couldn't make it to Guilford - not only was it too far but we were out wassailing a very wet apple orchard in North Devon.
