Hee, my ears must have been burning :-)

Have a great festival all - sadly I won't be there this year, but I am - as it happens - playing the Cheltenham Club NEXT Friday - that's the week after the festival. (22nd)

Please spread the word - and I'll hope to see some of you there (new songs and stuff too)

Tom

(and Shammick on the Sat 23rd and the Alcester Sleepover on Sunday 24th too, of course)!

Two Cheltenham threads - that's confusing. This one has more information (including several unanswered questions which I hope people managed to sort out).

I haven't seen the printed programme yet but supposedly the times I originally gave for the Singarounds in the YMCA Chapel in Vittoria Walk are correct (Sat 11.00-3.30 and Sun 12-3). The Chapel will actually be available for people to sing for most of the day (probably Sat 11-6 and Sun 11.30-4 but check times in the programme)

The Singarounds in the Chapel are FREE - as are Derek and Mary's evening song and music sessions in the Bell.

Not long now.
Sue

There will be a book stall selling solely previously cherished books at rock-bottom prices. Next to the bar as it happens.

Looking forward to it. And in the absence of anyone else doing it I am happy to keep a mudcat attendance record and post it after the festival.

Hello everyone

We will be running our usual song and music session from 8.00 at the Bell Inn, Bath Road, which is close to the Town Hall, on Friday and Saturday nights.

Hope to see you there!

Can you get a bus back to the campsite, armed with two guitars, a bodhran, a mandolin; and three sheets to the wind, after the pubs throw out?

Theres a nice campsite with electric hook ups and a nice motel on the outside of Cheltenham, just at the side of the M5 turn off. You can get a bus outside the camp gates, straight to the venue. Cheltenham has lots of nice restaurants. I went to the guitar festival a few months ago.

The venue is disabled friendly.

Thanks, Hils. Be great to see you there. Hope there'll be plenty more besides.

weelittledrummer - I suppose it depends what you like!
They are headlining Show of Hands, Brass Monkey and Threee Magpies but there's quite a list.
You can download a brochure from www.cheltenhamtownhall.org.uk (Sorry, one day I'll manage blue clickies)

The two things which most appeal to me are Jo Freya's Lal Project (singing songs of the late Lal Waterson)
and 'Down the Lawson Track' with songs/music/readings from the Australian Outback (Martyn Wyndham-Read, Shirley Collins and Pip Barnes

Hope to see you there, Chas.

Anyone else coming? Want to sing at Cheltenham FF?

Once again I've persuaded the festival to ensure that there is somewhere where people can sing during the day.
They've agreed we can use the YMCA Chapel, so I've said I'll run 'singarounds' from 11-3.30 on the Saturday and 12-3 on the Sunday. (The room will be open longer than this but outside of those times you'd be wise to turn up with a couple of friends or you might end up singing to yourself!)

I've been told that entry will be free (and not just restricted to day/weekend ticket holders)
I'll confirm the details and times once I've seen what it actually says in the programme! Do come along.

On Friday and Saturday evening there's Derek and Mary's sing in the Bell Inn. Also free and well worth going to.
