I am trying to find the words to this and one other song This one has a line in it (and perhaps the title as well that says "Oh Lord, Let me live till I am too old to die young". It is Country (I think).

The other song my Mother used to sing when I was a child. It has a line in it that goes

Darling, take my hand and let’s pretend
Let's pretend those clouds are islands in the sky
Let's pretend we're up there, just you and I
Let's pretend that no one knew
How to find us in the blue
Oh, darling, take my hand and let’s pretend

That, unfortunately, is all I know of it. It is Second World War song...the one singing is a soldier going to the front.

If you know the words, or if you can find a site where they are, please email me at bmillard@direct.ca

Thank you

By the by, I love this site.
Thanks for doing it.

HTML line breaks added. --JoeClone, 16-Apr-02.

hey B'millard, welcome to Mudcat, I can't help you on these two but if..one can, they will be to your assistance soon. These folks know more songs than you can shake a stick at, beware though, ye might find yerself comin back here often, if for no other reason than to rile some old goats up, or just to shoot the breeze. I keep waitin' for my walkin'papers but no one throws me out. Best o'luck, Tucker

MOE BANDY [LIVE AT BRANSON]

Let me watch my children grow
To see what they become?
Oh Lord don't let that cold wind blow
Till I'm too old to die young.

The first song is TILL I'M TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG, recorded by Moe Bandy, and written by Scott Dooley, John Hadley, and Kevin Welch. Lyrics are here.

The second song is LET'S PRETEND. It was written by Bob Nolan and recorded by The Sons of the Pioneers (of which Nolan was a member) and by Hank Snow. Lyrics are here.

This information from Allmusic.com and repertoire.bmi.com.

If you want to discuss either of these songs, please go to the other threads.
