I've been asked if an acoustic guitar with C GIANT on the headstock is likely to be worth £65. Anyone know anything about this mark please? It will be quite easy for me to say it's hardly likely to be a rip-off at that price of course.

I have a 12-string, not so marked, that was a rip-off at that price!

Sorry to hear that Richard - though it beats me how anyone can turn out any kind of guitar for sixty-five quid.

I'm told the Singing Postman played a Giant - now what should we make of that!

I took a chance on ebay. Frankly, it was not a guitar but a wall ornament. It is old, needs a neck set and the intonation done, and would still sound crap even then!

And it has sharp edges on the frets.

Giant Acoustic Guitars - a well known favourite of the Big Known Folksingers of the 1960's.

Sorry about the ebay gamble that didn't pay off. Got my hands on this "new" one (used - but as new) and I'm amazed. It's well made (clean as a whistle inside - no whiskers or globs of glue) - smooth frets, low action, gold plated geared tuners and a big bright sound.
At £65 it's unbelievable value - I think back to my 1st guitar; twenty five quid for an Antoria acoustic in 1966 - what a pile of crap that was by comparison.
