Walthamstow Folk - Change of dates!

It has been necessary to swap round two of the gigs in the early part of our 2008 programme.

George Papavgeris, that well known mudcatter, will now be appearing on Sunday 13th January, and

John Kirkpatrick will now be on the Sunday 20th January

These gigs were originally the other way round.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but, as I'm sure you know, both nights will be well worth attending. As are all our Sundays so see you soon.

Busy learning concertina and button accordion....
This is the second time in a year that I pull John's irons out of the fire. Kevin, you should ask him to do his "Doggie with a bogie" song, as a forfeit from me!

Just reviving this to say thanks to George for one of the best evenings we've had at the club.

Of course most mudcatters will know that that was to be expected with Mr P

Many of the audience were not aware of George's work but they are now, and were really up for it. Also all the floor spots (which included 'catters Moses and the Ref) pulled out their best.

So thanks again George and we'll have you back as soon as the diary allows.

I'll second that!

It was our first visit to the 'stow and we had a great time.

We knew George would be good, but it's always a pleasure to hear him "in concert" as opposed to in singaround mode, which we experience most weeks at Herga.

I also especially enjoyed the young lady (sorry I can't remember names anymore!) who sang the greek song. Very moving, despite not understanding a word of it! We missed the first half floor spots, sorry.

Thanks Kevin for the hospitality, and Russ for doing a great job for us on the PA with no time to prepare.

Good beer (4 real ales) and we got fed! Free sarnies at the bar in the interval.

Oh yes, and Moses won a prize in the raffle.

My pleasure and honor, Kevin! Great club, great people and great venue, just has to be one of the top two London folk clubs. And a lovely drop of Fullers to boot - I was on the London Porter (in between sarnies). Marialisa singing Hadjidakis' "Kemal" so beautifully was the icing on the cake.

And Moses and The Ref shone once more with them beautiful harmonies. I could listen to them all evening.

Now there's a thought, you club organisers!
