Subject: RE: Shenandoah From: campfire Date: 07 May 99 - 02:32 PM Congratulations, Sean! There are a few more verses in RUS that aren't in the DT: For seven years, I've been a rover... But I'll return to be your lover... campfire |
Subject: RE: Shenandoah From: Rick Fielding Date: 07 May 99 - 09:54 PM You know, I've always loved the tune to this song (been singing it for over 30 years now.) but I've never been crazy about the lyrics. Does anyone know if other texts have been written to the tune. Thanks, rick |
Subject: RE: Shenandoah From: Barry Finn Date: 07 May 99 - 10:14 PM Hi Rick, search out SOLID FAS' in the DT(make sure you put in the apostrophe after the S). It's a Carribean version used as rowing shanty while hunting the Blackfish (whale). The chorus melody lines are somewhat different but it's as beautiful none the less. Barry |
Subject: RE: Shenandoah From: Tucker Date: 07 May 99 - 10:22 PM you know rick,I gotta agree, I love the song but not the lyrics! It's like someone had a jingle contest and the judge was drunk and stoned. |
Subject: RE: Shenandoah From: Rick Fielding Date: 07 May 99 - 10:26 PM Tucker! We could write new words. No, No, No, Not yet, let me check out Barry's suggestion first. |
Subject: RE: Shenandoah From: Rick Fielding Date: 08 May 99 - 02:40 PM Thanks Barry. Interesting text, but I often stay clear of "dialect" songs. Rarely do "furriners" like me do 'em justice. I'm gonna keep lookin' Rick |
