Subject: Worlds of Trad Jan 2008 Upload From: Fred McCormick Date: 10 Jan 08 - 05:32 AM The January 2008 edition of Worlds of Trad Internet radio is now uploaded, will be on-line until Wednesday February 13th 2008, and features the very best in traditional folk, ethnic, world, roots, blues, old time country and early jazz; in fact traditional music from absolutely everywhere. This month there's a few carols left over from new year; Sam Larner, Roy Harris and Jamie Taylor tangle with more pirates than you'd find in a Johnny Depp movie; Curley Weaver, Dick Justice, Wesley Long, Lonnie Coleman and Gus Cannon tell you what does it for them; there's ragtime music galore from Scott Joplin, Gary Davis, Leadbelly and Mutt Carey; Hawaiian music galore from absolutely everybody; and holy rollin' sanctified singing galore courtesy of Sister Lottie Peavy, Bunk Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, Washboard Sam, Bessie Smith, The Mountain Ramblers, Viola James, Doc Watson and Nan Tom Taimín a'Burcha. And if that lot doesn't purify your wicked soul, there's some good old sinful Donegal fiddle, several singers from Fred Hamer's collection, some modern urban blues, and the usual collection of everything from everywhere in the world. The full playlist is below and can also be seen at http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=160651486 To listen to the programme, go to http://www.live365.com/stations/oneworldmusic , and click on the yellow speaker button. If you haven't listened before you'll need to follow the onscreen instructions to download the free station player. Then wait a moment or two and the station will be on the air. The music's great, listening is free and I'm glad to receive requests.
