Hey there guys, just joined here today. Well im a 17 year old boy and nearing 18. When im 18 want to get a tattoo, but i want a picture of Luke. I am a very very very big fan of him and his music so i just want to no if any of you no of/have any pictures which would be nice for a tattoo.

There are plenty more sites resulting from a google search, including a Luke Kelly tribute site, Liamc, that may be helpful. Having learned the painful process required for removal of tattoos when a person gets tired of them, I would respectfully suggest that a more fitting tribute might be to follow the music. Either way, I'm glad you're here.

If you are a fan of Luke Kelly then you already have an educated and eclectic ear. Do you sing?

By all means get a tattoo of your "hero" but don't do it until your 20 or 21. Getting a tattoo can be good choice if it's what you really want but you need to give yourself some space to decide exactly what you want. I have two sons just a couple of years older than you. They both got tattooed for their 18th birthdays and they now feel that they should not have been so hasty, one had to get a very large and expensive tattoo on his biceps to try and conceal the original tattoo because on reflection he saw that the choice he had made had implications that he could never have imagined when he first decide to get a tattoo. My other son is now investigating how he might get his original choice removed. He wants to know how I ever let him be so shortsighted. I'm not saying this to put you off I just saying that you shouldn't do it just because you can. Give yourself space to decide if it really is the best way to honour your hero. Luke Kelly is one of my heros. I try to honour him by singing some of the songs that he sang and by trying to fill those songs with as much passion and belief that Luke himself put into them.

Yea i do sing alot of his songs but o my self only im not very confident, i go over to ireland quite alot (all my family there) and in one pub which my family go to i have sang raglan road and come my little son. i just love luke, there is something about him.

Im glad to find such a site with fans of him, i feel right at home here.

Raptor asks "who is Luke Kelly" I would answer, probably the finest folk singer ever.

Saw him "live" dozens of times, had a few meals out with him as well.
What amazed me about Luke was his voice, how did a voice that was so powerful and passionate, eminate from such a slight man. he was, and to my mind still is the "best folk singer I heve ever heard",.
