Just received this from Jacko's daughter Chris:

The Penman family - Jack, Chris, David and Thiea, have just completed their first CD, entitled "Penman's Homemade Jam". We have included material from our repetoire that ranges from traditional chorus numbers to poignant contemporary songs , all in 4 part harmony style.
This is a great collection of songs from one of the few traditional acapella singing families in New Zealand.
We will be launching it officially at the Auckland Folk Festival.

This talented family sang at festivals back in the 70s and 80s, then the 'kids' grew up and went their separate ways.
Chris sang at our wedding 24 years ago.
Now they're back together and are guests at the Auckland Folk Festival at the end of January.
I'm really looking forward to hearing them again and getting my hands on a copy of their CD.
There's a photo near the bottom of this page.
Robyn

I spent many happy hours singing and chatting with Jacko on the old mudcat hearme or whatever it was called. Would love to get over to New Zealand one day especially as we have family there but in the meantime I will see if I can get my hands on Jacko's CD.

I also feel that Jacko is an old friend due to the chats we had on line. I would also love to get a copy of this CD. ANY CHANCE for us here in the UK??

Gidday Mrs Duck and nutty and all the other old friends from hearme and Paltalk, some of whom might more readily remember me as "scalliwag".

Yes, finally got round to it. Anyone interested might like to message me direct and we'll sort out things from there

Jack

Nice, but never mind them. Check out Habadam just above them. I have their cd in the car at the moment. Great sound.

Habadam certainly were great, but seeing as how you were at Cheltenham that weekend I could take offence at your remark, Fidgit.

Apart from that, as the saying goes, apples and oranges can't be compared.

Not a CHeltenham until 15th Febuary.

Anyway is there anyway of finding out the actual dates of the Auckland Festival. There doesn't seem to be any refference to that on the site.
You still use the calender down there do you?

Chas

Hi Jacko....Keep in touch through Mudcat....For some reason I can't get on Paltalk without some complicated technical work, which is too much for me..........Maybe we can trade our cds.....Frank of Toledo

Fidjit there was a thread on the Auckland Folk Festival recently here which was started by Gurney.
It was last weekend and I'm still recovering.
We played both Habadam and the Penman family CDs in the car all the way home - a 7 hour drive for us.
I especially enjoyed hearing Jack's grandchildren (known as the Baby Penguins) singing 'Country Life' in the Sunday afternoon concert.

Finally sending out my check for this. I am listening to the songs on myspace and wow! I esp. love Feed the Children; it should be a world anthem. Thanks so much for offering this, Jack.
