Fantastic night last night. The final bash of the Westhoughton Folk Club. This was one of the very best clubs in the land, superbly run and based around local band 'THE AULD TRIANGLE'. The band have existed since the early '70's and the club itself ran for some 25years until the final gigs last year. The event at Rivington Barn last night was a celebration of that 25 years with a cast of many of the people who have performed there over the years. I didn't get there 'til gone nine (appalling weather on the M6 from Brum onwards) and the party was in full swing. Some 600 people singing and dancing and having a ball. In no particular order some of the attendees were Vin Garbutt, Maddy Prior, Julie Mathews, John Leonard (and John Squire, a rare appearance!!) Mick Peat and the Band, John Wright, Strawhead, Bernard Wrigley, Tom Topping (Also a rare appearance). A great time had by all and the best singing I have ever heard at the end with John leading 'To ra loo ra li'. Thanks to Pat Batty for all her hard work over the years in running such a great gig. We will all miss her and the club.

I concur, a great event. Add to the line-up the Oldham Tinkers. Thanks to Phil B and Bernard for swelling the ranks of Mick Peat's band, Rogues Gallery, and Pat Batty herself on shaky egg. I look forward to Vin's suggestion of him joining the Tom Topping band and for it be called Dream Topping.

Brilliant singing at the end.

Mitch the Melodeon (on this occasion)

A fantastic last night of Westhoughton folk club, Thanks to all the wonderful artists who turned out, this alone is a reflection of how much the club and of course Pat are regarded by artists and club members alike. It truly was a fitting end to a legend of a club.

Well done to Pat and her team Mike, Barry and of course Clive, even though he is no longer with us. I feel sure he would have been immensly proud of the turn out and would have been smiling down on the event. Also thenks to Bernard Wrigley for a great job comparing the nights events
