This book, by Steve Roud, who of course is best known for the Round Idex is a superb guide to customs and traditions is this week's paperback choice in the "Guardian" review section. (p. 18)

A great book which will give hours of pleasure.

" ... the summer customs of Britain.
He explains what they are and when, who is involved and suggests some meanings.
His piece is illustrated with with recordings of events such as Crying the Neck in Cornwall, well-dressing in Derbyshire, and the solstice celebrations at Stonehenge."
