Subject: Lyr Req: Win Stracke's 'The Forty-third Ward' From: Stringsinger Date: 27 Jan 08 - 10:28 PM Does anyone remember the lyrics that Win Stracke, Chicago balladeer sang about Paddy Bauler and the Forty-Third Ward? Art, do you remember the lyrics to it? Anyone from around Chicago heard Win sing it? Thanks, Frank Hamilton |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Win Stracke's 'The Forty-third Ward' From: Phil Cooper Date: 28 Jan 08 - 04:15 PM It used to be played on the Midnight Special. Rich Warren may be able to tell you where to find the recording. The OTS is doing a tribute to Win sometime soon. |

Win Stracke - the voice that was once all over Chicago radio, but mainly with commercials! Then came Stud's show and then the Old Town School - a great fellow who knew where to take his passion for folk music. Chris ps Chicago still ain't ready for reform! |
