Well folks, it took a while, but here it is. On April 8, 2006, Utah and I did a concert in Grass Valley California. It was recorded on DVD and it is now available for $20.00 a copy including postage and packaging.
This is a painless way for you to help Utah in this trying time. Me?I'm beyond help.This was the last performance I did before losing my voice completely.

What region(s) does it cover, merely region 1 (USA, Canada) or will it play in region 2 (Western Europe), too?

That's a good question. I don't know the answer. I know it is the case with VCR tapes but DVDs I just don't know.

I do have to add a caveat here. This is not a top quality professional studio recording. It is not well mixed, Utah's guitar was too loud, and there is a minor glitch in his monolog. However, it is well worth having for his part alone.
Ask Amos and Joe Offer, they were there.

This is a pc burn so, as far as I am aware, should play on any DVD player that will take that type of disc.

Someone will let me know if I'm wrong, but I think that makes it viable whatever the region.

All I know for sure is, they take just under half an hour each to burn. Very time consuming, but it's a labor of love for me.

I got cautious after I brought the Bruce Springsteen CD/DVD combo back from the USA only to discover I could only play the CD part..

Bente - have you tried playing it on the PC? I can play both regions on mine - it just wants me to change the format each time I use a different region.

Yep. The PC won't play it. Either it's a region clash of some sort, or the DVD side is simply faulty. I can't make it play..

Andrez - the conversion rate right now is A22 but I'll have to check on the cost of mailing before giving a final figure. I'll PM you with my Paypal address once I have that figure.

Since we're burning these on our own pc we can make enough copies to, hopefully, please everyone.

Without listening once more to the DVD I can't, offhand, remember what Utah sang - he did do his song about children, So Long, It's Been Good To Know You, The Great Divide and I think, Look For Me In Bute. Most of the show is spoken - his recollections and outrageous stories and views on life in general.

OK thanks for that info. I loved Utah's storytelling humour ever since I first heard Moose Turd Pie about 30 odd years ago! The more recent 4 CD set Starlight on the Rails was a wonderful addition to the library too but since we are soooooo far away in Oz getting to see Utah doing his thing live on DVD is the only option available to us and will be just great! Count me in for a DVD once the postage details are sorted!

Regions have nothing to do with the standard.   Most computer generated DVD-R's are Region 0, but it can be either PAL or NTSC. My guess is this is an NTSC DVD-R. You should be able to play it on your PC depending on the program you use - most will play either as computer monitors are not NTSC or PAL.

Some of these have been sent to the UK. In fact I'm pretty certain that I have played one on my daughter's DVD player previously.

If anyone in the UK wants one let me know by Saturday as my daughter is visiting right now and going back Sunday. I can get her to mail any wanted in the UK to save time and she can pay cheques into my bank account over there as well.

Well geez, I do most humbly apologize. Never gave it a thought, but you shall have one!
The 14th might not be so good, as it will be 3 days after this next operation, and I will be on TOTAL voice rest for at least two weeks. However, either of those other days would work.
For those of you who don't know David, he just recorded Jacqui and me doing Miner's Lullaby for the new Utah Phillips CD. He does a great job of engineering, and he is one hell of a musician to boot!
His Father, Tom Rowe of Schooner Fare was a dear old friend whom I miss terribly.
