Tom and I were very happy to welcome everyone to our home.........and look forward to doing it again. I think -- at the least - we should have an annual Finn & Haddie concert at our house...

Ah, the pogies! How well I mind 'em when they washed up in the tens of thousands 'long our coast in the 1990's. We would gaze out in awe, holding our noses, while chanting:

We hauled 'em all away,
An' the very next day,
There were ten dead pogies in the bay (in the bay)! etc. etc.

Maybe you had to be there!

Barry and Neil were a lot a lot of fun and provided a great evening of entertainment and song for all.
Good to see all you Maine folk last evening.
Hideous is good Mary....my fiddler still stands in the corner of our living room...has not played a lick in several years since we got him home. Pogy is a menhaden as Barry discussed and they are really good to extract fish oil from when processed. For your "fishmas" tree.
Nice beard Kendall....did Jacqui knit it for you???? Wow...what a great idea!!!!

It was a wonderful night. Great food. Great music. Some new faces - Judy, Britta and,and,Deborah, what is the other lady's name?

And I received a perfectly hideous belated Christmas gift from Peter and Joann - I think it is a progie dressed up as a librarian. Sigh...

Deborah and Tom - thank you for your hospitality. As always, your guests felt very special.

It was a fine evening. The food was great and the boys were on their best behavior. I have a lot of favorite songs led by them but "Coal Black Rose" is a favorite halyard shanty that no one else does, yet. I mean there is just no other way to sing that song!

They also sang "London Julie," "Roller Bowler," "Heavy Cruiser," "Main Royal Yard," "One More Day," Georgie Me Neck is Broke," "Haul on the Bowline," St. Peter Down at Courland Bay," "Hell of a Wedding," and "Yangtse River Shanty" from their CD. New songs included "Venzuela to Trinadad," "Guantanamo Bay," "Firing the Mauretania," and "Bumboats." I've probably missed half a dozen or so.

And afterwards Barry led "Rivers of Texas" and others joined in for another hour of miscellaneous songs but by that stage in the evening my head was no longer recording. Must have been the Free Range Shepherd Pie or whatever I washed it down with. Good thing there was some coffee.

This should be fun, Neil will fit in fine with you Main-e-axes. About the cowboy songs, sorry guys but we're a shanty group even if we do throw in other typres of labor related stuff & prison worksongs we will try & do whatever you'd like to throw at us though, we adapt well to our enviorment just don't pickle us if we don't do the cowboy stuff. I don't even know if Neil knows any cowboy songs never mind perform them with him. BUT, I'll be happy to sing a bunch of them later durning the afterglow.
