Subject: Duck Soup, Guildford,Surrey 29/2/08 From: Surreysinger Date: 25 Feb 08 - 06:37 AM Herewith a notice published by Electric Voices about the forthcoming appearance of Duck Soup at the Music Institute Club in Guildford on Friday this week (ie 29/2) .... be there or be square ?? ""Duck Soup" are like the best pub music session combining the timeless traditional music of England with unique instrumentation and great good humour. "Duck Soup" are ..... ~squeezebox player and singer Dan Quinn ~guitarist and piano player Ian Kearey, best known for having been a founder member of Oysterband and for his performances and recordings with the likes of John Fahey, Billy Bragg and Ivor Cutler - not to mention street-corner busking in LA with Ry Cooder AND ~Adam Bushell, who plays percussion, marimba, mandolin and guitar and is, by his own confession, a hitter of things in all sorts of different musical genres. According to the review of their CD on the Musical Traditions web site) Duck Soup are "difficult to listen to without a smile on your face most of the time. Not that there's anything overtly funny about it, but rather that it's played with such good humour and there's so much musical monkey-business going on that you just have to grin. " "Duck Soup" are at The Guildford Institute at 8.00pm on Friday 29th February 2008 (leap day!).For further information see Music Institute website Hope to see you there! Irene |
