Hi Newcomer,

The problem is that it is difficult to know if people are being funny or serious when you can't hear the tone of their voice. People tend to get around it by putting in smiley faces :-), or descriptions of expressions eg **grin**.

have a look through some of the other threads you'll see what I mean..... I'm off to try that song now **grin**

Slainte

Thanks for the information, which I did need, but listen, folks, I was TRYING to be funny. I mean, YOU try to sing Rose of Allendale to the tune of The Yellow Rose of Texas. Lighten up, you guys, it was a funny. Can't you say funnies on here?

G'day,
Don't think so. Click here to hear the tune (or a fair approximation and there's a bit missing off the end). This is in the Digital Tradition database, but it's a bit hard to find because it's listed as Allandale.

Click here to see the words, (but change "lower" to "lour" in verse 2).

Cheers,
Alan

I have been trying to sing Rose of Allendale and have not been able to work it out. Isn't it the same tune as The Yellow Rose of Texas?
