Subject: Accomodation ( Whitby ) From: GUEST,Ammonite001 Date: 28 Feb 08 - 11:35 AM I have read the Terms ( what is allowed ) and cannot see anything that says I am not allowed to advertise - so I hope this post is OK and I do not get into trouble. Ime Whitby lad and am about to go into the Guest House business, its a new guest house, small but friendly ( I can cook too ), the place is called "Assam House" and its on Stakesby Road, about half way between The Metropole and Rugby Club, as of tommorow - 29th Feb our details should be on the "I know yorkshire" website. I have worked with the annual Whitby Folk Week for 18 years, am afraid to say Malcolm is a friend, I know many officials, stewards, performers and even the caterers. I do know that finding accom is difficult, particularly during the week long festival, if other hoteliers, guest house owners etc etc have spaces - why not use this thread, it would be very usefull to many people wanting to come to any of the festivals. email address: assamhouse@hotmail.co.uk |
Subject: RE: Accomodation ( Whitby ) From: Raggytash Date: 28 Feb 08 - 01:29 PM Hi, On the 28 March I am hosting a folk night at the Friendship, there will be numerous people looking for economic accomodation for a couple of nights, see the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat thread, what sort of costs are your rooms, might as well try and keep the cash in the folk fraternity. Cheers raggy Nick |
Subject: RE: Accomodation ( Whitby ) From: GUEST,Ammonite001 Date: 29 Feb 08 - 12:12 PM Thanks for that Raggytash, Unfortunately I dont think we will be quite ready on the 28th March, bit of work to do and all that, but cheers for the kind offer. I have a couple of friends who go to the Whitby Folk Club which is at The Friendship - GOOD LUCK with the event. DAVE |

Subject: RE: Accomodation ( Whitby ) From: Mo the caller Date: 25 Mar 08 - 08:21 AM Good to have more accomodation available for Folk Week. I see that you advertise ample wardrobe space, I find that B&Bs generally don't have enough for a full week or even long weekend of sweaty dancing. The self catering flat we had last year was good, we tried to rebook just before Whitby week, it was already taken, so we booked a different one in the same building, so the family that had that one couldn't rebook it, either. |
Subject: RE: Accomodation ( Whitby ) From: Jack Campin Date: 23 Apr 10 - 01:23 PM A bit more expensive than we were hoping for, if the rates go up during Folk Week. There doesn't seem to be a permathread about Whitby accommodation. Is it too late to find anything under 60 quid a night for two people? (B&B, caravan, whatever, but in the town, we don't have a car). |
Subject: RE: Accomodation ( Whitby ) From: MC Fat Date: 24 Apr 10 - 06:17 AM Jack there may be some room if my mate Ken and moi stay at our friends cottage. Depending on how many people are there it's between 100-200 quid for the week per person. |
