I bought mine in 1974. I still have it and play it all the time. I love it.
If you look at the tag in the sound hole, you'll notice the fact there's no serial number.
The Jadee was one of what was to be known as a "law suit guitar".
In the 70s the quality of Gibson & Fender guitars had faltered. This led to the emergence of Japanese manufactures who used better parts and craftsmanship. Or so they thought.
My Model 696 has had "issues" with the floating bridge which I've repaired. It's a 46 year old, $120.00 guitar that sounds better than my Martin D18, so hey!
Lately, these guitars have become sought after.
I have a Guyatone electric guitar that I got for $35.00 in the 60s that is going for over $1,000.00 now.

I have a 696/12 jadee I've been shlupping around with since 1973 or 4. I still play it from time to time, tho' I prefer my Taylor 414. I may sell it soon. It still sounds and plays sweet! Good luck, all! bojo

I BOUGHT ONE USED IN 2009 [IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 70-80'S]...I SEARCHED FOR INFO ON THE NET BUT DIDN'T SEE YOUR INQUIRY OR ANYTHING ELSE TIL NOW. MINE MUST BE A CHEAPER MODEL...IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE SOLID [BUT HAS A NICE SOUND] AND THE HEADSTOCK LOGO IS A METAL PLATE WITH RAISED LETTERS "JADEE". THE SPLIT PARA-GRAMS ARE NOT MOP, BUT APPEAR TO BE ALUMINUM, WHICH IS THE SAME MATERIAL AS THE ADJUSTABLE SADDLE IN THE BRIDGE...I BOUGHT IT CUZ IT'S THE CLOSEST TO THE REAL THING I CAN AFFORD...WISH I HAD MORE INFO FOR YOU!!

Can't find anything on this old guitar of mine. I was hoping someone out there could help.

It's made in Japan, probably in the late 60's or early 70's. It's made to be a copy of a Gibson square-shouldered, cherry sunburst Hummingbird. I can tell that the wood is all solid, but I don't know what kind. It has the MOP double parallelogram fret markers and headstock crown, as well as "Jadee" written in script in MOP. The headstock top is the traditional Gibson style mustache or open book. The bridge has this weird metal piece with screws on either side that the the saddle drops into, making it somewhat adjustable. The paper label on the inside says "Guitarra made en Japan" (Half-Spanish? Huh?) gives a serial # and says it's a "Jadee". The action has always been low, I've only adjusted the neck once, it's an easy player, and the tone is balanced mellow.

I got it used back in '75 as a gift, it was my first full-sized guitar. In 1981 I bought a Sigma Anniversary model new, so the Jadee became my back-up and camp-out instrument. Recently I've been playing more again and using more alt-tunings, so I decided to have the bridge re-glued (a stint in Nashville tuning, while fun, was not a good idea) and the first four frets and tuners replaced. All this work on my old faithful made me wonder about it. When web searches took me nowhere... well this was the only place to find Sigma info, so why not give it a try?

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated!
