Happy Birthday Mooh! Sorry I missed this earlier. Karen's birthday was March 3 and she turned 50 as well! She isn't real happy about it but at least for this coming year, we'll each be "in our 50's" together. Then I'll move on...........damn it!

From the tired Mrs Mooh,

We had such a good time. It was so nice to see 5 different combinations of groups that he has and or does play with for a great jam session. Everyone had a great time. The look on his face as the hidden guests started to appear from the basement was absolutely priceless. Sorry Phil, I was really fearful about the weather. We may live in the prettiest town but it can be awful in the winter.

Kat...I didn't have to do very much. There was a whole team of little elves, of which Mike's bride was the Santa. However, I did improve on my ability to tell little white lies with a straight face.

Mooh...when I saw that guitar in 2 pieces, I was amazed again that a guitar maker can make something sweet out of it. It will be good to hear you and see you play it.

Phil...Thanks my friend, we'll make up for it sometime! Tami says, "Oops, out-of-province is a lot to ask this time of year!", and indeed it is. We'll have to talk guitars again, I got one for my birthday, not yet completed, cutaway grand auditorium, mahogany/spruce/bloodwood/ebony etc, body is enclosed and neck roughed out. Should have it in the spring. You may remember the builder Josh House (www.houseguitars.com) who is a former student of mine and has been turning out some fine guitars.

I still can't believe we could actually keep the surprise from you, Mooh. So many things could have upset the apple cart - including the 2 who showed up at the front door for the party AFTER you'd arrived - I had to shew them away to another door (they hid in the dark cold garage until we finally rescued them!)...and then fib about who had rung the doorbell.

Oh, and wasn't it magnificent of your girlchild to come home for the weekend? What a long trip both ways! And the special fiddle. And the unfinished guitar. And the food. And the music. And the good weather, to boot. Congrats to Mrs. Mooh and her helpers for doing it up right!

And I'm very thankful that my man and I were able to witness it all firsthand.

Thanks folks! And b.w., thanks for everything, it was wonderful, and what a book!

You know something, I cried last night. All of my family came, including my eldest from school far away, many friends, and we had great tunes and songs, stories, food, laughter, and in the end, exhaustion. The family got to hear our grandfather's violin played very well, nice since we never knew the man but for Mum's stories. Surprise party deluxe, I didn't see it coming at all. My bride, in her usual efficient manner, pulled off the perfect event. (Some of you may know her from her contributions to our local Goderich Celtic Roots Festival.) When it came time for me to respond, I was speechless, and in tears. Thankfully, the rest of the family is never short of things to say!

I'm still blown away.

We surprised Mooh with a party last night, 3 days before the actual day! A great gathering of family, friends and/or musical folk. So happy birthday, Mooh. May the next 50 be just as wonderful.
