Subject: RE: eadabe/dgcgad guitar tuning From: Bryn Pugh Date: 05 Mar 08 - 10:54 AM I could be wrong, Captain, but I think these to be, respectively, E modal and D modal. It is in the back of my mind that Nic Jones might have used D modal in 'Canad-ee-i-O', but as always I'm prepared to be wrong. Thanks, by the way, for your kind words about ECGCGE tuning - ca va ? |

Subject: RE: eadabe/dgcgad guitar tuning From: GUEST,Jonny Sunshine Date: 05 Mar 08 - 02:18 PM I used to play one song in DGCGAD (I had my brother to thank for that). Gives you some nice chord options (and unison bends on the lower strings sound great). I also used the similar DADABE on a couple of numbers- particularly good on electric guitar (and less chance of breaking the third string). Also worth a try is EAEF#BE which is the same pattern shifted down a string, and only 2 strings different from standard tuning. |

Subject: RE: eadabe/dgcgad guitar tuning From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Mar 08 - 02:55 AM At one stage I used to play "Step it out Mary" in DADAAD and it was necessary to use a lighter than usual wound G and I still broke lots! |
