I have most of the lyrics for the following song, I got it from a recording and it is not great, anyone know this song

McElroy was an Irish boy he came by county Clare
He thought he'd go to london, for to see the ??????????
He often heard that london was a very pretty place
Oh be God says pat tis there I'll go says he if that's the case

Now when paddy landed in london, he was taken by surprise
The grandeur of that city fair ?????????????
Going jogging quite easily, and contented to himself ???
And along came an english cockney ?? and a donkey belle and belle ??

Now to see ???????, He would let Paddy pass
He said speak to your brother and he pointed to the ass
Be God says Pat I never thought I'd have a brother here
So he lowered and stood ???? and whispered something in the donkey's ear

Now when pat was speaking to the ass, well boys what did he do
He dropped ????? tobacco in his ear he did its true
The ass went mad upset the cart smashed all the crockery ware
And then the english cockney he went crazy clear and clear

Well he whistled ???? for to take poor pat in charge
He said this irish vagabond he should be not at large
Go along you english scoundrel you says Paddy with a smile
You thought I was ???? but I come from Erin's Isle

Come, come says the magistrate ????
I do believe your honor ??
And I'm sorry to be dad
Be careful says the magistrate
We'll have none of your nonsene here
And you'll tell us every thing you whispered in the donkey's ear

Well the truth be known your honor, your request I'll not refuse
For I often heard that donkey's were so very fond of news
I only spoke a word or two my brothers heart to cheer
And aye I'll tell you everything I whispered in his ear

Well i told my brother Ed we had got our ?????
??????? old irish men no longer were repressed
And when my brother heard the news be Jesus he went mad
?????

Well the court went round with laughter at the answers Paddy gave
And the magistrate ????
Oh I do says ??
????    I'll dismiss you from the bar

hi

Kevin beat me to it, these are copy and paste from the dt

Pat Molloy

Pat Molloy was an Irish boy, he left the County Clare
He said he'd go to London for to see what sites were there
He often heard that London was a very pretty place
Well begod says Pat I'll go there so, to see it that's the case

cho: Rally ra da diddle di do right fal de de

But when he got to London, well he had a big surprise
For the site of that great city nearly dazzled Paddy's eyes
One day as he's going down the street, meditating to himself
He spied a ragged Cockney and a donkey selling delph

Now the damn auld ragged Cockney wouldn't let poor Paddy pass
Saying speak unto to your brother and the pointed to the ass
Begod says Pat I never thought I had a brother here
And turning round he whispered something in the ass's ear

Now when speaking to the donkey, well boys what did he do?
He slipped a pebble in his ear. He did begod 'tis true
The ass went mad, upset the cart, broke all the earthenware
And the damned auld ragged Cockney, he went crazy clean and clear.

Well, the police they were called for to put poor Pat in charge
Saying apprehend this vagabond, he should not be at large
Begone you English Spailpin then says Paddy with a smile
You thought I was an ass because I came from Eireann's Isle

That's nonsense said the magistrate for you know the ass went mad
I do indeed, Your Honor and I'm sorry too bedad
Be careful said the magistrate I want no nonsense here
Now come and tell me everything you whispered in his ear

I will indeed, Your Honor. Your request I'll not refuse
For you often heard that donkeys are very fond of news
I thought I say a word or two, the donkey's heart to cheer
And now I'll tell you everything that I whispered in his ear

They say that now in Ireland we have our wrongs redressed
Our noble-hearted Irishmen no longer are oppressed
We've got rid of all our landlords, Ireland to ourselves we have
And when the donkey heard the news, well be Jesus he went mad

The magistrate from laughing, he had to creep his head
When he looked on dear auld Paddy and the things that he had said
And turning round to Paddy, what a clever boy you are
And for your clever answer I'll dismiss you from the bar.

Clare traditional singer Tom Lenihan had a slightly different
Have filled in the gaps with his version.
Jim Carroll
"The grandeur of that city fair ?????????????"
The sights of that fair city fairly dazzled Paddy's eyes.
"Now to see ???????, He would let Paddy pass"
This damned old ragged cockney would not let poor Paddy pass.
"So he lowered and stood ???? and whispered something in the donkey's ear"
And turning round he whispered something in the ass's ear
"He dropped ????? tobacco in his ear he did its true"
He slipped a pebble in his ear, he did bedamn, 'tis true"
"Well he whistled ???? for to take poor pat in charge"
He called upon the peelers to take poor Pat in charge.
"You thought I was ???? but I come from Erin's Isle"
You took me for an ass because I came from Erin's Isle
"Come, come says the magistrate ????"......
That's nonsense, said the magistrate, You know the ass went mad.

Well the magistrate, from laughing he had to creep his head,
When he looked at poor old Paddy and thought of what he said,
And turning round to Paddy saying, a clever rogue you are,
And for your clever answers I'll dismiss you from the bar.
I do indeed oiur honour, and I'm sorry too bedad.
"Well i told my brother Ed we had got our .......?????"
They say now in Ireland, weour wrongs redressed,
Our noble hearted Irishmen no longer are oppressed.
We got rid of all the landlords< Ireland to ourselves we have,
And when the donkey heard the news, by heavens, he went mad.
