Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Cath Date: 08 May 08 - 04:31 AM The weather is set fair and the campsite is looking very pretty and comfortable! Please do not just turn up and expect to get on the site. Space is limited and we don't want anyone to be disappointed. Since the good weather forecast numbers have gone up greatly so do please get in touch and book your space. |

Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Cath Date: 06 May 08 - 11:26 AM Has anyone seen the weather forecast for the weekend? It's promising to be warm and sunny - that's got to cheer me up after just having had my driver's door seriously damaged by someone driving down the road. |

Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Cath Date: 06 May 08 - 04:58 AM It is the one that is beside the Co-op car park - where you give blood if you do that. It will be around 9.00 but it needs to be dark so if darkness falls later than that please assume that it will probably be a little later. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: GUEST,pc Date: 05 May 08 - 05:06 PM can you be a little bit more specific.I will be at work and will be meeting up with my better half etc...[I dont do churches'..the methodist..is this the one by pioneer. |

Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: GUEST,PC Date: 05 May 08 - 03:59 PM Sorry Cath I havent' a programme yet...Where are the flame throwing fire eating morris dancers on Saturday night and times.Ive told my little girl she must see em'.. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Cath Date: 05 May 08 - 12:30 PM Land of the Summer Wine. Holmfirth is in West Yorkshire about 6 miles from Huddersfield. Update on programme - the Saturday night concert with Andi Neate, Roger Davies, Les Barker, Pete Morton, Mike Silver and Johnny Coppin has been put back 30 mins for logistical reasons. So it starts at 7.30 and goes on until 11.30. But still a bloody good concert and all for £5. The camp site is in good condition and certainly not too dry and hard but equally it isn't too wet either. The hard area near the kids play area is a bit puddly but if the weather stays good that should dry out by Friday. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: GUEST,PC Date: 04 May 08 - 11:21 AM John Cooper Clarke tickets are nearly at an end, a notice will be going up on our website on Tuesday...You can still purchase tickets via the Picturedrome website...please note it is unlikely' that there will be any tickets on the door.. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Cath Date: 04 May 08 - 09:03 AM Certainly is. We don't have a 'ticket'. Most events are free. The only gigs you have to pay for are at the Picturedrome,(£10 Friday and £15 Saturday) CragRats, (£5 I think) the Ceilidh (£7) and concerts in the Old Bridge Hotel (£5). The rest of the stuff in the pubs is free but you will be expected to put your hand in your pockets when buckets are passed among you. Please come along - we've got the decent weather ordered! |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Mr Happy Date: 04 May 08 - 07:12 AM Me & t'Fiends're contemplatin' this one. Is it poss to just pay for campin' wi'out having to buy a ticket, like at Saddleworth? |

Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Soldier boy Date: 30 Apr 08 - 08:27 PM Good grief Tyke! What's all this about you and your carbon footprint? If I recall rightly last year at the Whitby Folk Week you had a small generator buzzing away by your caravan belching out fumes and disturbing the whole campsite! Green my ar.e! I love you to bits Tyke but you shouldn't tell fibs. Honestly!! |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: GUEST,PC Date: 30 Apr 08 - 07:09 PM Thank the planet we are all different..... |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: dozy rozy Date: 30 Apr 08 - 05:38 PM Tyke, you must stop taking the french woman up on the moors to see the sheep. You were so exausted on the way to Hardraw you had to stop for a cup of tea.And nothings raw where Tyke's concerned.Everything goes in that frying pan of his. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Tyke Date: 30 Apr 08 - 03:51 PM The only Raw nerve is a Guest posting negativities when all I'm about is promoting Folk Events and Festivals. I must admit you could be less subtle and posted to every Festival Thread Sorry I can't be with you as my Carbon Foot Print is too large. As for the French Woman that travels round with me, what goes on is just between us however. I will honestly say that my French Compion has taken me to places that no other woman ever has and we have reach the Highest Plato's together. I can also assure you that Car Sharing is better for the environment in ways you have not even thought of. Dozy rosy has been very understanding about our relationship as I have been open and honest with her from the start. If you want to know more you will have to come to Holmfirth FF. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: GUEST,PC Date: 30 Apr 08 - 10:07 AM Which is the raw nerve subject here...Tyke, Dozy Rozy, the Carbon footed French Woman,Carbon Woman, Fench carbon or just Carbon....,all of which seemingly will be present at this years festival..just curious |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Tyke Date: 30 Apr 08 - 03:27 AM I suspect a hint of jealousy! In that last post! |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: dozy rozy Date: 30 Apr 08 - 12:00 AM Yes, Tyke, but you will increase the weight and mileage in the car, and hence petrol consumption,by insisting on taking that French woman everywhere. |
Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Tyke Date: 29 Apr 08 - 08:24 PM No I do not have massive pair of Carbon Feet. I have a Low Carbon emission Car that can do 50 miles to the Gallon and a solar panel charging my Caravan Batteries when possible I Sail on Tall Ships to shanty festivals. I don't Fly off on foreign parts on package holidays or eat Scottish Salmon which has been flown from Scotland to China to be packaged and then flown back to Scotland to be distributed to shops in the UK and Europe. I also recycle my tea bags once used by giving them to Soldier Boy. |

Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: Cath Date: 20 Apr 08 - 05:37 AM In reply to Sooz - we don't have such a thing as a weekend ticket. All concert tickets (including Picturedrome but excluding CragRats) are available at the TIO in Holmfirth. Tickets for Old Bridge Concerts are also available at the Old Bridge and I have a small number for anyone who wants to send me a cheque and sae. Ceilidh tickets are available at the TIO. I don't have any but can point anyone interested towards the person that has some. They are not available at the Old Bridge unless I manage to get some taken there! |

Subject: RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk From: r.padgett Date: 18 Apr 08 - 11:36 AM Well not only are there concerts, but a festival wouldn't exist without "mainly yourselves" Plenty of folk clubs and singarounds and musicians sessions and workshops with great strength in depth A festival needs to mix both old and new and folk has somne knowledgeable old people Holmfirth the town lends itself to dance teams on good old tarmac! outside the town centre pubs with great weather what more can you need Ray |
