Blatant self promotion time!

Terry Ferdinand has an excellent folk show on Internet radio station Bishop FM broadcasting out of Bishop Auckland, County Durham UK. The show is on at 9pm UK time. The show is also available as Podcast from the same site if you miss it.

Terry has very kindly asked Wendy Arrowsmith back and strangely asked her to take me (Paul Arrowsmith) and the banjo with her.

So expect (live & without a safety net!)one or two banjo tunes, a trad song or two and one or two songs Wendy has written including "The Visitor".

Link to
Bishop FM

Come and join us and singalong to The Visitor!

If your not sure, check out some of our songs and tunes here: Arrowsmith Videos

The Visitor Chorus:

Hurry Boys hurry
Clear away the snow
Steady horses steady
We've many a mile to go
Hurry Boys Hurry
We'll pray along the way
As we drag the Whitby lifeboat
O'er the hill to Robin Hood's Bay

Mr Villan,

If we don't self promote how will we ever be famous enough to play at Faldingworth Live (The greatest venue south of the Humber I've heard!)?

.....you see I'm quite happy to promote your ventures as well!

Cheers

Paul

Uh, Villan, is it OK to be seen on the same thread as a banjo player?

I can see that I might have to do "5th String Jealousy" ( a classic in.......our house) if you don't give it a rest!

I take back every bad thought I had or bad thing I ever said about banjo. I really love the sound of you and Wendy together, as I do each of you alone. Thank you very much for posting the links, Paul. I am even more looking forward to the Podcast.

I'm assured that the podcast will be on line on Saturday....they've got technical problems.....the technician who puts the podcasts together is in London all week!

Show also repeated on Saturday night 8-10pm, if anyone is interested.

Terry is also always looking out for interesting guests. It might be worth anyone in the Northeast (or prepared to travel), who has music to share, get in touch with him via the station website.

Paul

Hi Paul - just listened to the music online - great stuff -
How long ago did you live in Old Basing? as I think we may have met ??
My other half (Maggie) & I played (still do a bit) locally in Basingstoke & North Hampshire. Did you go to any local venues?
Pete

Hi Pete,

We moved from Old Basing about 4 years ago, I have to admit we weren't doing much in those days either playing or listening to others, we were busy having children (still only 6 & 8) and had heavy careers. Wendy is now focusing much more on her music, I unfortunately (or fortunately, depends how you see it!) still have a proper job.

Wendy did do a monthly night at The Millstone/ Barton's Mill for a while and we occasionally took in a show at The Anvil but that was about it.

We'd love an excuse to get back down there though!

Still awaiting the Podcast from Bishop FM to go on their website!!!

Cheers

Paul

Small world. I used to work in Basingstoke for a computer company and then as a freelance tutor 1994 to 1998.

Sounds like an excuse for a reunion of current & former residents of Basingstoke???

I hate the placa and only go in to town if I have to.
The only good thing that ever came from Basingstoke was the road to Liverpool ((Is that an excuse for another thread)

Peace- I will, still not up yet though!

Villan- glad to see you escaped too!

Banjoman- I wholeheartedly agree about Basingstoke, I did like Old Basing though. A reunion would be great fun!

Paul
