It was Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub!

Not a 'Hugh' in sight.

And lest we forget the mighty Half Man, Half Biscuit: -

Time flies by when you're a driver of a train, Speeding out of Trumpton with a cargo of cocaine. I get high when im a pilot of a plane. Touching down in Camberwick, I'm stoned out of my brain.

Under bridges, over bridges, to our destination. Careful with that spliff, Eugene, it causes condensation.

Every saturday i get the Chigley skins. And they always smash my windows 'cos the home side always wins. Time flies by when you're a driver of a train, Gonna get my syringes out and crank up once again.

Under bridges, over bridges, to our destination. Careful with that spliff, Eugene, it causes condensation.

Funny, I don't remember that cocaine bit. But I wouldn't be surprised. Look at that funny walk.

Who were the men at the Fort?

From the Trumptonshire website:
http://www.t-web.co.uk/trumpgo.htm

Captain Snort
He inspects the soldier boys on parade.

"Captain Snort"

Captain Snort is a soldier man,
Scarlet and gold a soldier man.
He'll work a boy as hard as he can,
To turn him into a soldier man.
Captain Snort is a soldier man,
Who lives in Pippin Fort

"Seargant Major Grout",
With his deep voice he shouts
ATTEN-TION !
SLO-OPE ARMS !
OR-DER ARMS !

Soldier boys (6 altogether):
Private Armitage, (the best swimmer),
Private Featherby
Private Higgins, (the smartest looking soldier boy)
Private Hopwood
Private Lumley, (the one who can't tell his left from his right),
Private Meek, (Mrs Dingle's nephew).

The Bugler
He lives in one of the towers and apart from sounding the call for drill, he also answers the fort's phone. The bugler is largely ignored, but as can be seen from the "PC McGarry" episode he is a separate character, and not one of the six soldier boys.

"Driving Along" (in an army truck)

Driving along in an army truck,
In a humpety bumpety army truck.
The people wave
To the soldiers brave,
Who sing and shout,
As they lurch about.
Oh we are in luck,
We will never be stuck,
In our humpety bumpety army truck.

Ahhh! Happy days!!
Cheers
Mark

You can get the complete Trumpton/ Chigley/ Camberwick Green on DVD at
Amazon

Personally I love the episode where Windy Miller has a bit too much cider and falls aleep. I can't imagine anyone making a programme like that these days.
