If you're going to Roscommon you might think about settling there--it's just been announced as having the longest average life expectancy of any county in Ireland.

It's the Bank Holiday alright. I don't have the programme to hand at the moment but know that it includes talks by John Moulden, Jim Caroll and, I think, Chris Miles. An award to Sean Garvey and the usual mix of sessions. If they put up a site, I'll post a link on Mudcat.

On a not-unrelated topic, and rather than starting a new thread, can I just ask here when the Knockroghery Singing Festival (Roscommon) happens this year? Is it the Bank Holiday at the end of October, as before, and which weekend would that be? Thanks to anyone who knows,

DCMVD.

Hi George

I'll be there, I wouldn't miss it. I believe that Pat has volunteered to put us Dubs up and to feed us a good fry on Sunday morning so that we're in good fettle for the shanty session in Howth on Sunday morning. Tell Pat that I like my rashers well done and my eggs sunnyside up.

Yes, bus leaves the Strand at 1.45am.

We have a number of intending passengers for it this Saturday. All we have to do is telephone them and tell them there are pssengers (1 or more) and they will ensure that the bus stops outside the Strand Hotel.

Look forward to seeing you and hearing more of your songs Gulliver

:-> aisy on the Joyce, Martin - at least until the bus gets to Vico Rd.
'France in bad company' - I've already managed that and am here (or there depending on viewpoint). Just have to wait for the invention of teleportation to manage to get back to Bray on a monthly basis of a friday night, I suppose....
Bad (singing) company in Brittany on the stout - sounds like a good way to spend the Whit - enjoy yerselves...

Sorry - French trip fully booked but I am hoping that this will be an annual. ennistymon transferred to Brittany every Whit weekend.

Yes, Martin, terrible bad company going over. Breton Stout is very good and stronger than our local stuff.

p.s. But to answer the question - I suspect George would happily get you to France in bad company!

No disrespect meant to Mary Haran - but can't help noticing that Finnegan now seems to have a Bus as well as his Wake. Whatever next ?
Do they run anything to France the same lot ??

Martin Ryan. I had forgotten that it was you who told me about the Mary Haran situation in Ennistymon. I did not mean to offend and would have mentioned that you told me had I remembered.

Second night will be on Saturday May 17th. Also, Finnegans bus co. will be stopping outside the Strand Hotel in Bray at 1.15am (Sunday 18th) approx. and will be travelling to Dublin Town Centre. Cost is Euro 5.00 single.

So those who get the dart out have a method of returning to Town without having to leave early.

Hello Mick,

Good to be back and I remember with pleasure our meeting in Windsor.
We have to try and do our bit to keep the ould tradition going. And sing the songs we have borrowed during our lifetime so that others can carry them on.

Unfortunately, there's no room at Pat Burke's Inn that night, but I hope to see as many as possible there for a few songs. I understand we're clashing with Sean nós Cois Life, but if ye come to Bray that Sat ev. you can have 'Amhráin tradisiúnta cois Deargaile'!

Pat will be a valued attendee and will not, I believe, be providing B & B because there is plenty of such like accommodation here in Bray.

But we will have a very good night as many people from other circles are going to attend and support.
