Subject: Lyr Add: Barach HaMelech - The King has Fled (Heb From: GUEST,Volgadon Date: 23 Mar 08 - 08:52 AM http://www.nostalgia.org.il/amuta/album_details.asp?id=62 There is a 30 second sample of the Amranim Duo at #17. Barach HaMelech is one of the best examples of the Biblical song, once a popular Hebrew genre. The lyrics are by the poet Amos Etinger and the melody by Yosef Hadar, the composer of Erev Shel Shoshanim. It's a very moving retelling of the Absalom story. ×'×›×" ×"מלך Barach HaMelech Barach Hamelech barach hu im laila min hakeret barach hamelech hamelech asher nikra David. The King has Fled The king has fled fled by night from the town the king fled the king who was called David. And Absalom took unto him men of valour and war and Absalom conspired to depose his father. The king fled through the Cedron Brook a caravan passed the king fled and came unto the Land of Gilead. and Absalom pursued with men of valour and war and Absalom swore to rule the people evermore. In the king's army the joyful assurance of victory is ever in their hearts and the king's army goes by night to war. And Absalom and his men of valour and war were pursued Absalom was killed with three tribes - by Joab. The king wept over his son Absalom wept by night the king wept over his son Absalom who did not return. And Absalom with his men of valour was defeated in the field and Absalom lay dead in the field of battle. The king wept. |
