Subject: The --seed who came in from the cold From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 17 May 99 - 01:44 PM On one of the BS threads a couple of days ago someone criticized people who expressed their opinions while hiding behind code names. While I have been using a code name I have never hidden behind it--I often posted my name in the threads. But, as I am an opinionated old coot and not ashamed of my opinions, I thought I'd get my name up front. --seed |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: katlaughing Date: 17 May 99 - 02:06 PM Oh, BSeed, how brave! I commend you and as I've done the same, I shall come out of the closet, too....so said, Katlaughing aka Katey LaFrance! |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Mudjack Date: 17 May 99 - 02:24 PM You B seed, but could also B Mudkratz. Jack Roberts is my real world name and more of this would save some guess work. I have communicated with several M-catters in personal mail asking if they were so and so from wherever thinking they might be some one I have met or know in the real world.I'm sure we have a good number of well known personalities on the Mud site that have a need to remain incognito for their own peace and sanity. I always prided myself for all those I've met and acquainted myself with only to find this folkieworld is much larger than I ever imagined. Mudcat has opened my eyes to not only a great song source but a ton about songs I've never heard of. The folk music is overwhelming. I always thought I had a pretty good knowledge of the music only to learn and confess I have a very limited knowledge of the music. Mudjack, stll learning after all these years. |

Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: John Hindsill Date: 17 May 99 - 10:13 PM Geeze, I feel so validated using my real name all this time. Whoops! this isn't my birth name, and at this late date I couldn't go back. When I first came to Mudcat, I was going to use my highschool nickname of Wheezer; but in this day and age that sounds like a prevert. -- John, who for a short time was forced to sign (John, not jon). |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Susan A-R Date: 17 May 99 - 10:35 PM Well, I'm Susan Arnowitt-Reid, which is just plain too long for these parts. |

Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Mo Date: 18 May 99 - 04:38 AM Aw, no 'Seed - don't change your name! I like BSeed, it's instantly recognisable - it has a touch of "of the earth" about it. Please stay as BSeed! Mudkratz is a whole new person to me... Mo - who isn't going to give her full name in an unsecure place of public access, because part of what drew her to the forum in the first place was the security of nom-de-plumes. I still stand by everything I write though - and I'm only ever known as Mo here. |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: KingBrilliant Date: 18 May 99 - 04:43 AM I am Kristin King. So I was half out of the closet.. Kris ... but not especially brilliant :( (ps. KingBrilliant is short for F.... - which makes me giggle, but probably makes everyone else cringe. C'est la vie) |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: The_one_and_only_Dai Date: 18 May 99 - 06:59 AM I would own up to being Richard Phillips, but that would be silly. You never know who's looking. |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Llanfair Date: 18 May 99 - 08:04 AM As I'm now using my fourth surname, my identity is centred around my first name, Bronwen. Previous identities have been Miss Pugh, Mrs Nettleton, Mrs Craig and now Mrs Yale. Take your pick. Serial monogamy lives.......OK Hwyl, Bron.

Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Vixen Date: 18 May 99 - 12:29 PM D'Cats-- Names are very important things. In Arthur C. Clarke's "the 9 billion names of god" the world ends when the computer finds all the names. We're more than halfway to 9 billion souls on the planet, and I hesitate to think that each will have a name for the deity, and once that last soul is born the whole shooting match goes bang and we start over. In another story I read, the only way to conquer a true wizard is to find out its true name and use it in a spell. All that having been said, Vixen is a nickname from childhood, which I have incorporated into various endeavors--Vixen Grafix (artwork) and Vixen Muzik (songs)--in my life. I consider the red fox as a personal "Totem Spirit," along with the sugar maple. My name is Victoria, and I go by Vic. V |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: SeanM Date: 18 May 99 - 12:37 PM After experimenting with a number of pseudonyms (Lord knows I perform under enough of them), I eventually went back to the real name, as I didn't see any 'Sean's when I ran a forum search... then Sean Mac started posting. *sigh* 'S my name too! Gonna keep posting on it until the copywright dogs rip my fingers off the 'board. Fighting the flu with a WONDERFUL collection of OTC beverages and pills (Hey! Who let the pink elephant in here!) Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Rick Fielding Date: 18 May 99 - 05:51 PM Darn, I keep coming back here to see if G.A.S.P. (or his other moniker) will reveal himself. Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Joe Offer Date: 18 May 99 - 07:24 PM I almost always use my real name - and oftentimes, people don't believe it's real. I got a marriage proposal from a real estate lady last year. She figured she could make big bucks in her business if she had a name like mine. -Joe Offer, and proud of it- |

Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Banjer Date: 19 May 99 - 06:33 PM John, I accept that as the compliment which I'm sure was intended. Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Margo Date: 20 May 99 - 11:41 AM My name is Margaret. But my family has always called me Margo. Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 22 May 99 - 02:52 PM Roger Himler who lives in Westminster, Maryland, USA, but its not so far from Baltimore. RiB |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: Rick Fielding Date: 22 May 99 - 02:59 PM All right Roger, now I get it. "Roger from Westminster" would sound too much like one of the red-coats. Actually one of my friends in Toronto, Ed Hutchison (a fine blues player) has been calling himself "Eddie Baltimore" for years - and he's a thousand miles further away than you. |
Subject: RE: The --seed who came in from the cold From: The Shambles Date: 22 May 99 - 03:09 PM I had a girl friend who used to say she lived in Westminster (London), but she actually lived across the River Thames, in Lambeth. A world away.
