Weile Waile

There was an old woman who lived in the woods Willa, Willa Whya;
There was an old woman who lived in the woods, Down by the river Soya

She had a baby(pr babby) three months old Willa, Willa Whya;
She had a baby three months old Down by the river Soya;

She had a pen-knife three foot long, Willa, Willa Whya;
She had a pen-knife three foot long, Down by the river Soya;

She stuck the knife in the baby's Head Willa, Willa Whya;
The more she stuck it the moreit bled Down by the river Soya;

Three big knocks(knocking on nearst bit of wood) came knocking at the door Willa, Willa Whya;
Three policemen and man Down by the river soya;
(yeah yeah I know it dosn't scan or rhyme, but that's that makes it funny)

(gruff voice)Are you the woman what killed the child?Willa, Willa Whya;
Are you the woman what killed the child down by the river Soya?

(trembly old lady voice,with a touch of defiance)I am the woman what killed the child Willa, Willa Whya;
I am the woman what killed the child down by the river Soya;

The rope got chucked and she got HUNG: Willa, Willa Whya;
The rope got chucked and she got down by the river Soya;

The moral of this story is Willa, Willa Whya;
Don't stick Knives in babbys heads down by the river Soya;

Regards Ted

Let's see what I can answer:

Click here for FINNEGAN'S WAKE

For Seven Drunken Nights - click here or here

if it's "Holy Ground" you want, not "holy land" then it is at this location click here

There were at least two threads in the not too distant past about weila weila - but I can't find them...

Hi everybody. I write from Verona, Italy.As I'm not good at English enough to recognize the text by ear, I'm looking for the texts of some ballads played by Dubliners, which I've not been able to find in the database. The titles are: Seven drunken nights/Finnegan's wake/the auld triangle/weila weila waile/home boys home/the holy land. Thanks in advance!
