Subject: RE: louis killen From: Nerd Date: 03 Apr 08 - 05:35 PM Eric is right...I have heard from a reliable source who had communicated with Louis very shortly before our contact. But I don't know how many details Louis wants aired in public. If someone closer to the man would care to comment, that would be great. |

Subject: RE: louis killen From: Ruth Archer Date: 03 Apr 08 - 08:05 PM I got the impression that Louis doesn't really want a big fuss in terms of "when will he be back?" but wellwishers who demand nothing will probably be most welcome. |

Subject: RE: louis killen From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 04 Apr 08 - 01:49 PM I grew up in the States, and Louis Killen's was one of the first British folk-voices I ever heard, many years ago. His effect on me was instant and riveting. I was doing something (can't remember what) while listening casually to a radio playing in the background but not giving it much attention. It must have been a folk programme because a track of Louis' came on and it just stopped me dead in my tracks. Even all these years later I can remember thinking, who is that? What a VOICE!! I've never had reason to change my mind - he's simply one of the best singers out there. I hope it will cheer him to be reminded of the many fans he has across the world, and I wish him all the best. |

Think back to 1976...with Stan onboard the Unicorn sailing into NY with the Tall Ships for the celebrations.. The Bermuda stuff was fun too, I seem to remember... Hope this makes you smile...wish I could see more of you, but we seem to have swapped countries :-) Fair winds my friend...get well soon. Cheers Pete Sumner Redwood City California |
Subject: RE: louis killen From: Peace Date: 04 Apr 08 - 07:36 PM Lou, I had the pleasure of meeting you in Montreal back in the early 1970s. Can't recall the club, but you got on stage with that concertina of yours and absolutely wowed the whole crowd. I'd love to say it was the experience of my life, BUT, I had to follow you and it was no joy. Took me the better part of three songs to get the audience to stop asking for you to come back (and I was one of them). I hope you get well real soon. Bruce Murdoch |

Rose in June - exquisite - we use it in workshops as a demonstration of how to pull everything about how to sing a song together to make a superlative rendition. Best wishes Louis - get good soon. Subject: RE: louis killen From: GUEST,DonMeixner Date: 06 Apr 08 - 11:07 AM Lou, I had the distinct and ironic pleasure of booking you and Sally into a job at the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Auburn New York in 1975. The president of the club at the time was Bob Welch and he still talks about that event as if it were yesterday. Be well and come back again. Don Meixner |

Subject: RE: louis killen From: GUEST Date: 10 Apr 08 - 06:46 AM Dear All, I brought in the computer to Louis yesterday so he could read his messsages, and he decided to write one of his own back to all of you. Besides what he says about how he is doing, I will add that he truly is much better, he has color back, the scar is healing, and he's in a better mood again after a few crabby days. He is starting to work on his own with his stoma and is getting back a sense of control, which has made a big difference to him. It is remarkable that people can recover so quickly. Not that he's out of the woods, but I'm even beginning to believe they will let him out earlier than expected. His note is below. Thanks to you all again. Margaret /Dear Friends, I'm up and about – no more tubes or wires hanging around (well, maybe a couple of bags but you won't see them). I'm still very sore in the tummy area – the scar is 12-15inches long and I look like a refugee from Staples or Office Depot. But already they have me up and walking – not any great distances as yet, just to the end of the ward corridor. Alas, after I've walked around for a bit I feel like I've just done the Great North Road ½ marathon. However, at this rate, they'll be kicking me out of here in a week or ten days (I hope)./ /I am touched and honoured by all the love and affection shown in your emails and cards. The main problem is laughing! I've had to put one aside for later reading as it hurt so much to laugh. Keep them coming but give me warning!/ /Love to you all, Louis/ |

Subject: RE: louis killen From: Blowzabella Date: 10 Apr 08 - 05:50 PM Just to advise - the posting from Guest is a little out of date - Louis is now out of hospital and recovering at home. I've told him it's not just his doctors who think he is amazing. |
