Weigh haul a-weigh!

It's official folks - you're going to be seeing less of me. I am undertaking a sponsored weight loss to benefit Bramble Childrens Ward at the RD&E Hospital Exeter. (50%) The Alzeimers society. (25%)
and the MS society (25%) and am counting on your support.
The work of all three charities has a personal resonance for me, with close relatives and friends receiving invaluable assistance from each one.

Just recently I was given an added incentive to shift some weight. It has been a long-held ambition of mine to participate in a major sailing expedition. Several opportunities have been and gone, over
the past 20 years, but I now have the chance of a place in the 2009 Tall Ships Race.
The ship is compact. The bunk is small. The rigging takes some climbing. I will need to be considerably lighter and a great deal nimbler to stand any chance at all of fulfilling this dream.

You may sponsor me for every pound I lose, starting from the gig at the Y theatre in Leicester on the 2nd of April. Kevin Henderson (Master of the scales) weighed me in me at 18st 9lbs and 4ozs. The final weigh-in will be on August 31st. Regular progress reports will be posted on the www.longdogs.co.uk website and Longdogs administrators will collect the sponsor money at the end of the designated period. This will be at the last festival in August which is Fylde.

Cheers everbody - and mine's a slimline tonic!

    Phil B

Good on you Phil
Is sponsorship only from gigs or will you be doing it thro web site?

By the way, my wife and her mate used to work with your Dad (they were/are both Nurses who trained in Exeter in the early 80's) and have fond memories of him

Regards

Matt(18stone)Keen

Hi Matt
Forms at all gigs between now and the 31st of August. Thread is already running on Longdogs and they will have direct online sponsorship running very shortly. They also have the charity account to administrate this. If you knew my dad then you may know that the Alzeimers society have been fantastically helpful to him during the course of my mothers illness. I'll mention your name when I see him tomorrow.

Is there a way of sponsoring you that doesn't entail entanglement with DogsintheManger?

Some of us have had experiences with that organisation that we would sooner not repeat.

Its necessairy to apoint a third party admin to keep things above board. They've done stirling work in the past with this sort of thing and would always be my first choice. If its a problem, contact me off site through www.chudleighroots.co.uk and I'll make an alternative arrangement.

Phil - how do you plan to go about this? Any particular diet or exercise? I've lost 23 pounds in the last few months and I'm working on the next 23. Best of luck. You're going to feel better and you'll be able to go shopping in your own closet and wear those old clothes that have been gathering dust - way in the back.
