I'm due to be down in Birmingham in July as part of my new job. We run a conference from 4th - 6th July. I'll probably be down on Thursday 3rd and the conference finishes on the Sunday 6th at midday. Is there anything going on that I may be able to get to. I'll be based at Aston Business School so i'm really central.

Look Jim, you've told everybody now. You may find the place strangely empty when you get there!

No help with current scene, I'm afraid. I finally left Brum in late '69. Actually worked at Aston U for most of 1969. In my day I used to go to the Opposite Lock jazz club in the Cut on the canal. My folkie friends went to the famous Jug O' Punch club which I think was in the Crown in Digbeth. Of course in those days you could have a night out, pint of Ansells, packet of Woodbines, cream and blue bus fare and still have change from fourpence...

Links on cresby.com to Bob Taberner's website - he lists in the smudge on the map called the West Midlands.

There is a session in Kings Heath and there was one alt Mon in the Old Crown (a lovely Pub) but I am out of date on things Brumagem.
