Subject: Best shop to buy Folk vinyls in Glasgow?

Hi, I'm soon going over to Scotland, and I would really want to grab some Folk-vinyls, with such artists as Andy Stewart/Harry Lauder/Valerie Dunbar etc. Do anyone of you know the best second hand folk vinyl recoring shop in Glasgow? I guess that the best ones in the country will be in Glasgow, or wil it be in Edinburgh?
I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks

Jack

Thank you! Oxfam you say. May I ask a question. The vinyl stores I have seen have had oads of records in alphabetic order, is it that at Oxfam too?
And about car boot sales, which is the very best one? Is it the Barras?

They ain't FOLK.

If this is what you are looking for look under Tartan and Shortbread or Kaleyaird.

I'd have to agree "Andy Stewart/Harry Lauder/Valerie Dunbar" are not likely to be found in a shop specialising in folk music.

Well maybe they would, but I'd suggest that they are not regarded as folk, and specially Andy Stewart and Harry Lauder would not have been regarded as folksingers even when they were alive.

There are a couple of shops selling old vinyl around Glasgow, but none (as far as I know) that specialise in folk music.

There is an Oxfam shop in Byres Road dedicated to music, I believe.

There's a dedicated Oxfam music store in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh. Whenever I'm back in Scotland I make a point of going there. They make a distiction between 'Scottish' and 'Folk'. I don't know if there's an equivalent in Glasgow.

Glasgow:
Oxfam on Byres Road
Oxfam on Victoria Road

You should really nip across to Edinburgh and visit Coda Music... better for 'folk' than anywhere in Glasgow.
