The buyer might be well advised to take great care before parting with his money.

There is some concern expressed on concertina.net about whether or not this is a scam.

Apparently the box was sold not so long ago on ebay, it seems, for a much greater sum.

This is supposedly exactly the same images and some of the same text copied verbatim from the original auction.

If reading this is the buyer, I should make da*m sure that the concertina does exist before parting with cash and if possible insist on collection in person.

Of course I might be wrong and in that case apologise to the seller.

Ah Ha!

Looks like this very same Concertina was recently sold in March ....... for £5,050 Sterling! ...... OUCH!

Ebay can be a very dangerous place to buy concertinas.

Fortunately there are quite a few folks on concertina.net who keep a close check on what is sold on ebay and highlight likely scams in the forum on an all too regular basis. Getting ebay to follow up and delete scam listings can be very difficult but they do seem to be paying more attention to this matter in recent months.

Anyone thinking of bidding for a concertina on ebay would be well advised to check in the forum and perhaps ask if anything is known about a listed concertina before shelling out hard earned cash. Not infallible of course but definitely a worthwhile precaution.

There are some regular concertina sellers on EBay who are obviously reliable and who you shouldn't have a problem with. Cocoa III and MacGinnis supplies spring to mind and there's a chap in Australia. Other than that I'd buy only from your own country and if it's a lot of money then pick it up in person with money in hand. I've seen a few obvious scams go through.
