Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Flash Company Date: 25 Apr 08 - 06:27 AM Nothing to do with folk, but check out The Cinnamon Club in Bowden, good Jazz venue. Saw Tomasso Starace last night, Italian saxophonist playing with a pick-up group of local musicians. Excellent tenor and soprano sax from Tomasso and a brilliant guitarist in the accompanying group. Blues on 1st and 8th of May. FC |

Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Dave Roberts Date: 02 Jun 08 - 02:28 AM 'Lost In The Mist' (Bob Webb, Ian Murfitt and me) will be at the Queen's Head, Congleton on Tuesday June 10th for a rather special prelude to this year's Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival. Some of the 'floating gardens' boats, promoting Cheshire's Year Of Gardens, will be making their way down the Macclesfield Canal and stopping off at the Queen's Arms on the Tuesday evening for a pre-festival party prior to making their way to Middlewich for the start of the folk festival on June 13th. 'Lost In The Mist' will be at the festival on Friday evening (King's Lock) with 'Shake The Barley' and at The Boar's Head on Sunday afternoon. We look forward to seeing you at all three venues. Incidentally, the Queen's Head appearance is also a curtain-raiser for our new residency at the pub. We'll be there on the first Thursday on every month, starting on July 3rd. Our other residency, at the Blue Bell, Smallwood, will continue on the last Monday of every month. Details from www.bobwebbmusic.co.uk Thank you for your time. |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Marilyn Date: 02 Jun 08 - 04:49 AM Just a reminder to one and all that Tilston Folk Club is changing to Wednesday from this week. This month (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th June) are all singers/musicians nights I think. Not sure when the next guest night is but will post as soon as I do know. |

Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Mr Happy Date: 02 Jun 08 - 08:41 AM Used to be a sinaround at the Red Lion in Malpas - anyone know if its still going? |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: GUEST,John Date: 02 Jun 08 - 07:09 PM ...not quite Cheshire - but nearly: Wednesday 4th June at the Beech in Chorlton. Good singing, good company, good beer. John |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Marilyn Date: 03 Jun 08 - 07:47 AM Mr Happy - the Red Lion session finished quite some time ago (I think it was before we moved to the Malpas area and that's two years plus). There doesn't seem to be any sign of it starting up again unfortunately. |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Marilyn Date: 28 May 09 - 06:51 AM FOLK TRAIN Sunday 31st May 2009 My band Halfe Pannikin is playing on the Folk Train leaving Chester station at 13:15 on Sunday 31st May travelling to Plumley (near Knutsford) and back. We will be playing on the train and for an hour or so in the Golden Pheasant at Plumley while everyone eats, then on the train again on the way back. The train leaves Plumley just after four o'clock and gets back to Chester about 40 minutes later. It's part of the Mid Cheshire Rail Festival and should be a very enjoyable afternoon out. Hope to see some of you there. |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Les in Chorlton Date: 28 May 09 - 02:15 PM ..not quite Cheshire - but nearly: Wednesday 3th June at the Beech in Chorlton. Good singing, good company, good beer. Les |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Mo the caller Date: 23 Feb 11 - 06:33 AM The Kelsall 2nd Tuesday session in the Farmers Arms is still going strong. The Dusty Miller at Wrenbury is closed for 3 months for renovations, so the Last Friday session has been moved across the road this month to the Cotton Arms Wrenbury. |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Mo the caller Date: 23 Feb 11 - 06:56 AM Here is the thread I was trying to revive (but no point bumping both up). It mentions a regular 1st Thursday session in Nantwich, which has now moved to the Rifleman CW5 5QE. Coming along the A51 the road is easy to miss, it looks like an alleyway - just room for one car. Chip butties at suppertime. (Greasy fingers afterwards) I think Jigsmith have a concert at Whitchurch this Friday too, which will keep some people away from the session. Jigsmith |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Les in Chorlton Date: 23 Feb 11 - 07:13 AM ..not quite Cheshire - but nearly, we can see Cheshire just across the Mersey at Sale: Tonight, Wednesday 23 February at the Beech in Chorlton. Beginners/Improvers Tunes, dots on the table lots of repeats, good company, good beer. Songs and tunes at The Beech L in C# |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Mr Happy Date: 23 Feb 11 - 07:23 AM Mo, Thanks for the update, we're planning to come on Friday, possibly the Mr Happy BIG BAND! [aka the Misericords] Also Chester Folk Day this coming Saturday http://www.chesterfolk.org.uk/folkday.html |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Mo the caller Date: 23 Feb 11 - 08:56 AM How could I have forgotten that. A great concert in the afternoon, one of my favourite bands playing for the evening ceilidh - Time Bandits, + session room and singaround/folk club in another room. All in a Victorian school in Hoole with Mary and Roy in the kitchen keeping us refreshed. It's just a shame that it clashes with Poynton ceilidh, Electropathics, and Liverpool Contra Ceilidh with Geoff Cubbitt calling. Something for everyone there, I would go to all 3 if I could. |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Mr Happy Date: 23 Feb 11 - 11:22 AM Yes indeed, I would've liked to have heard the Electropathics again - c'est la vie! |
Subject: RE: What's On? Cheshire UK From: Ian Hendrie Date: 23 Feb 11 - 04:19 PM Tom McConville with David Newey at the Midway Folk Club, Stockport, Cheshire on 21st March 2011 at 8.30pm. |
