Subject: The Banned List of Goth Music From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 23 Apr 08 - 08:40 PM Still not really sure whether this site is 'Real' or a set-up... http://www.godhatesgoths.com/gothmusic2.html QUOTE GOTH MUSIC - THE BANNED LIST People have been asking us what albums are 'safe' to listen to. Obviously we feel it's not who you should be listening to, it's who you should be protesting against that counts. Burning records and smashing up CDs of the most sick and anti-Christian artist. As a good guideline, if you are unsure in any way ask yourself this. Does the band / music you wish to listen to include any of the following themes - Rebellion Violence Nihilism (belief in nothing) Escapism Drugs / Alcoholism Sexual Perversion, Self-Mutilation Dissonant / Offensive Sound The Occult Anti-God / Anti-Authority Cult-like Organization, Terrorism If so, you should steer well clear. As the Bible teaches us anything that promotes or embraces any of these factors is predominantly anti-Christian, and against all that God stands for. Obviously we cant name every band we would like to see banned or made child-safe, so we will give but a few you should definitely avoid like the plague. UNQUOTE Enormous list follows... But wait - there's more - even T-shirts... Looks like Folk/Trad Music is not safe - "What do we do with a drunken Sailor" looks at risk... I do like "Dissonant / Offensive Sound" - the so -called 'Australian Gospel Music Festival' which drowns out everything for miles must really be 'Goth' then - and if you look at how some of the attendees dress... :-) "Band-name AC/DC stands for Assault Christians Destroy Christians." "KISS: bloody stage show, sex, rebellion, violence, perverted bassist sticks his tongue out frequently (A major blasphemy in the Bible), band name KISS actually stands for Knights In Satan's Service." "Jimmy Page: 'one of the leading occultists of the rock generation,' owns occult bookstore, bought Aleister Crowley's former home and had it refurbished by a Satanic decorator" "Led Zeppelin: backmasked messages and references to Pan on 'Stairway to Heaven', Zoso = number of the beast" See - I KNEW Stairway to Heaven was Evil.... :-) ~~~ A further thought - unless you STEAL them (which would surely be naughty!), "Burning records and smashing up CDs" means that you have to BUY them, thus supporting the Bands... :-) |

Subject: RE: The Banned List of Goth Music From: M.Ted Date: 23 Apr 08 - 09:05 PM Thanks for posting this--it is very entertaining. As to whether it is "real" or not, I cannot say, however, I did notice that the "Rev. RG Green" seems to know a lot more about "Goth" culture than he does about the Bible. |

Subject: RE: The Banned List of Goth Music From: GUEST,c.g Date: 24 Apr 08 - 12:04 PM Hmmm, In the bad old pre-PC days, AC/DC meant bisexual. That would really freak the Christian Right. So many right-wing Christians. So few lions. |

Subject: RE: The Banned List of Goth Music From: GUEST,Jonny Sunshine Date: 24 Apr 08 - 02:29 PM Looks like a mickey-take (I think the domain name is a giveaway, surely a reference to GodHatesShrimp). That said, it's no really any more extreme than some of the more extreme fundamentalist Christian propaganda, just slightly better-written. A while back I saw a (genuine) book that warned parents that wearing black, listening to "strange" music and being moody amongst other normal teenage things were irrefutable evidence of devil-worship. Soem people haven't really moved on from Salem. Very worrying. |

Subject: RE: The Banned List of Goth Music From: ClaireBear Date: 24 Apr 08 - 03:53 PM Happily, I know just what to do to fix "What do we do with a Drunken Sailor": "Put him in rehab til he's sober...." "Sign him up for a 12-step program...." "Send him to a mission, let him preach there...." Honestly, all it takes is a bit of creativity! |
