Subject: Folklore: The Branch We Bear So Green...
From: Jack Blandiver

The last day of April & no Beltaine threads, although I was always given to understand that these old cross-quarter festivals were celebrated on the full moon following, which in this case isn't until May 20th, although there is a new moon on May 5th, but in any case there had to be May Blossom, which is the point of this thread (at last), venerated, it would appear, for (how shall I put this?) a certain olfactory simulacra...

So how's the May Blossom doing this year, country dwellers?

Living here by the sea in sunny St. Annes the local flora tends to be palm trees & other such exotica, so I'm a tad out of touch with such things as was once my regular rural rounds.

Whatever the case, and whatever it is you celebrate, do have good one.

On the even of Walpergis, when I get those pagan urges,
and I mount my bonny besom, and above the moonlit trees zoom,
gaily bound, as is my habit, to the nearest Witches Sabbat,
there to dance, to leap, to caper, to the Jew's Trump and the tabor...

And I forget the rest! More when it comes back to me...

There is a Beltane thread, but it's spelled differently - Beal Tain

The may blossom is out around London but the further up the A1 you go (Hertfordshire), it's still blackthorn that prevails.

Blessed be!
