I just stumbled across a superb half hour program about Old Time fiddle player Bruce Green from Falling Tree productions (3.30pm Friday). Bruce is a fiddler from New York who moved to Kentucky to be near the old fiddle players he had heard of, and he spent a lot of time finding them and learning their tunes and fiddling styles. He later moved with his partner to North Carolina and continued the process. The program consists of interviews and fiddling examples - and singing with his children. What a lovely player, with a great attitude to the music.
Listen to this for a week on the BBC website.
Cheers
Ray

Part of the short series Musical Migrants stories of people who relocated, influenced by music, which has been a 15 min slot this week.

well worth a listen

Interesting programme but 15 minutes was hardly enough.
Contrary to what Bruce said, he did not entirely give up meeting other old time musicians when he moved to North Carolina, witness his recording with Oscar 'Red' Wilson.

Hoot
