Subject: Singing by Email From: Alice Date: 22 May 99 - 01:01 PM I just sent this out to my musicmail list. In my frustration with chatrooms, ICQ, Windows or Mac, etc., what I really wanted was a way to easily speak or sing or play music with you all over the internet. I believe I have found it with Vocaltec "internet voice email". The demo I downloaded yesterday has 10 free emails to try out the program. The list price is $29.95. If we use this, I could actually hear you PRONOUNCE those Gaelic words! Someone could play or sing the tune in addition to the midi and abc notation we share. Here is the website for Vocaltec click here
GO TO "Internet Voice Mail" on the menu at the left side of the page.
If you receive an email with a voice file attached, there will be a voice player attached for Windows and one for Mac to hear the sound. You download the voice player from your email, then download the attached voice message file. Text email can be sent with the sound. You can record up to several minutes at a time. I tried it yesterday, and it opens and plays very quickly.
There is a page with system requirements, free demo, and user manuals for Windows and Mac at the link above. alice in montana
