Anyone know any rhymes or songs for teaching shoelace tying to children?

You know, I'm almost 60 years old, and I still don't know how to tie my shoelaces right. They tell me that what I tie is more of a slippery granny knot. I don't know that I really care, since I now wear shoes with Velcro straps.

Anyhow, this Google search (click) will lead you to several rhymes.

JOE - as a scout you should know.

LEFT over RIGHT and then RIGHT over LEFT

A shoelace tie is a basic square-knot

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Do NOT get too cerebral - like "the one on the left is now on the right so it must really still be the right"

I just learned this past Christmas. (Now if you want to learn how to correctly tie a "smoke jumper's boot" that I have known 3/4 my life.)

I know all that, Garg - I just can never tell right from left, and my slippery Granny bow works just fine(except that it points up and down, not sideways). I tried to discipline myself into proper shoelace tying, but it was harder than giving up cigarettes...

Am I allowed to use the word "cigarette" in a thread about children's rhymes?

Nothing rhymes with shoelace. The best Lennon and McCartney could come up with is suitcase and bootlace. If even the Beatles can't do it, it's time to give up.

Here's a little rabbit, and here's a great big tree.
Watch the little rabbit, run around the tree.
Out pops his head, to see what he can see.
How neat a knot he made around his great big tree.

Two-face rhymes with Shoe-lace, but I don't know that it will help...
