this song is one that has been handed down in my family for as long as i can remember. but as it is oral history, i cant find the song lyrics or tune anywhere. here is a small sample of how it goes.

"i stuck my head in a little skunks hole,
the little skunk said
well bless my soul!
take it out, take it out, take it out, take it out remove it!

well i didn't take it out and the little skunk said
take it out, take it out, or you'll wish you were dead.
take it out, take it out, take it out, take it out, remove it!"

since its a round about it can go on forever. and of course the kids love it. please if anyone can tell me were i can find the tune i would greatly appriciate it!

The tune is "Turkey in the Straw" and the lyrics are in the DT entitled "Skunk Hole".

The line sounds familiar, but not in connection to a skunk.

we sang Psssst , I removed it.

by the way if this happens use tomato juice or acetic acid (vinegar) to neutralize the smell. the link below says "Pet sprayed by a skunk?"

In my opinion SKUNK SONG is NOT the tune of TURKEY IN THE STRAW
