Correct lyrics, as found on the lyrics website "LyricWiki":

As a dream is born in darkness
A seed begins to grow
The land provides the shelter
The dream provides the glow

We have this dream - America
A vision bright and clear
In the freedom we are seeking
We have planted ourselves here

In the space that we call living
We shall see what we can be
In the space that we call sharing
We will raise a family

In the rain and in the sunshine
We will make this land our home
This land is home
This is our home

Here it is. It's the theme song for a TV series aired in 1974.

The New Land
(John Denver)

As a dream is born in darkness
A seed begins to grow
The land provides the shelter
To dreams that brightly glow

We have this dream of America
A vision bright and clear
The freedom we are seeking
We have planted ourselves here

In a space that we call sharing
We shall see what we can be
In a space that we call living
We will raise a harmony

In the rain and in the sunshine
We will make this land our home
This land is home
It is our home

1974

First, there was a series of four historical novels by the Swedish author and historian Vilhelm Moberg:
Utvandrarna (1949), translated as The Emigrants (1951);
Invandrarna (1952), translated as Unto a Good Land (1954);
Nybyggarna (1956), translated as The Settlers (1961); and
Sista brevet till Sverige (1959), translated as The Last Letter Home (1961).

Then there was a film based on the first 2 novels called The Emigrants (1971), and a sequel, based on the last 2 novels, called The New Land (1972). Both films starred Max von Sydow and Liv Ullmann. The Internet Movie Database (IMDb – see the last link) doesn't give any information about the soundtrack, but it seems unlikely John Denver would have been involved at that point.

Finally there was a short-lived American TV series "inspired by" the story, also called The New Land. There were 6 episodes in 1974. IMDb confirms: "Series Original Music by John Denver" but gives no further information.
